Progress with the new Clubhouse project continues steadily in the background and I'm pleased to update the membership that Life Member and Past President Rick Aitchison has been appointed to Chair the Member Recognition - New Clubhouse Committee. Rick will be joined by Building Committee (BC) Member Liam Petrie-Allbutt and New Clubhouse Capital Campaign Committee (NCCCC) Member Narelle Curtis on this sub committee.
The purpose of the Member Recognition - New Clubhouse Committee is to evaluate and make recommendations for the appropriate recognition of past and present member; significant contributions in the new Clubhouse.
Having both the BC and NCCCC represented assists to ensure that design and development elements are considered and understood and as previously announced significant financial donations to the new Clubhouse are appropriately and tastefully recognized. The structure also allows for effective cross communication between all relevant committees which have responsibility for the project.
Any members who have suggestions or would like to discuss this project are encouraged to contact Rick via email (preferably) email@example.com or mobile on 0403 180 427.

I'm pleased to be able to report that some significant behind the scenes progress is being made with the Back Beach Base project and hope that in coming months we will have a final agreed design and a secure plan to fund this essential coastal safety asset which we can then share more broadly. We recently commenced a consultation program with the Board riders Club which was most worthwhile and positive.
A reminder that the AGM is quickly approaching. Please refer to your email or the Club Member's area for the various documents pertaining to this important annual event (incl nomination forms hint hint). The final touches are being put to the Annual Report which will be available for review online prior to the Meeting. An informal afternoon tea will be provided after the formalities.
Jim Lyon is leading a great initiative in regard to blood donations - well done Jim.
There's more than one way to be a lifesaver, which is why we're proud to have joined the Red25 blood donation challenge.
We're now asking members to sign up and join our group challenge. Each donation will contribute towards our tally, and save 3 lives.
For more information, or to sign up, please send Jim Lyon an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
More detailed info is also on our Facebook.
As usual, the Nipper team are super organized and have produced their Calendar for Season 2018 / 2019 already. It's just been uploaded to the Website / Social Media and here is the direct link : http://www.pointlonsdaleslsc.asn.au/media/34/Point%20Lonsdale%20SLSC%20Nipper%20Calendar%202018-2019.pdf
Finally, in recent weeks many Life Members gathered for a get together lunch. With Terry Lane's permission I have reproduced the email wrap up (see below). Thanks Terry for taking the initiative on arranging this function.
It was great to catch up last Friday - many of the stories still the same they just seem to take a bit longer to tell !!
We had apologies from David Ponsford, Steve Blewett, Matthew Ponsford, Steve McBean, Bob Luce and Bill Halliday (Sorry if I missed someone).
We agreed to meet again next year in May at the same place "Castle and Elephant Hotel" in Geelong - Also in December / January when the swim is on as it seems many of the "Lifees" are at Lonsdale around this time and perhaps we should meet at one of the "locals" in Queenscliff. More news on this later in the year.
It was agreed we should look at sponsorship of team members for next year's Australian titles at Broadbeach (QLD) - This will be referred to the club for approval. Any support will go directly to the members and not to the club. A level of performance for each athlete would need to be achieved.
A healthy discussion of where the club is at was also part of our lunch particularly with governance and the law into the future. Presently whilst nothing was resolved, we now have a reasonable understanding of what the club has achieved and where they are at present.
Our goal will be to support the competitive size of the club and hopefully rebuild it to former's strength and reputation in Surf Life Saving.
