Last week saw the Victorian State election held and congratulations to Lisa Neville who was re-elected. Lisa has been a very passionate advocate for the Bellarine since first elected in 2002 and we look forward to working closely especially in regard to our two major infrastructure projects which received a lot of media / publicity in recent weeks. Lisa is well aware of our issues and has committed to continue her support for the Club.

    Patrols set to resume
Our core business of patrolling the Back Beach resumes this coming weekend, with a warm first day predicted.
Charlie and the team are well prepared and organized and I'm sure it will be another successful patrolling season. If you're around this weekend please help out / drop in and I believe there may be a BBQ over at the Beach too ?

    Training & Assessment
Well done to Justine and everyone who is supporting the administration of preparing for the annual Cadet and Bronze Camps this season. It's no easy task preparing to hold a camp for 140 teenagers and at times a thankless task.
We have utilized the recently adopted financial assistance policy and it's great to see that we have such an option and that someone who would have otherwise not been able to attend can do so now.
The cost of the Bronze camp has increased mainly due to an increase in the bond, which for most members is returned (requirements successfully met). The addition of attending a Surf Carnival and adding an additional lifesaving award should be a win / win.
Don't forget that Requals have already started - LERT RWC / IRB 2 weeks ago and Bancroora last weekend. See the website for more information on dates / venues and steps to undertake.

    New Clubhouse project
Our Building Committee and Project Manager have just received building tenders and for the next 2 weeks the team will be hard at work reviewing and scrutinizing what has been submitted. No doubt the team will be sharpening their pencil to get the best value for the membership.
The issue of donating goods in kind is a little complex on such a project, but Chris is still looking for appropriate donations and it's not too late. The more we can save this way, the less we need to fundraise and get the project started.
Finally, it's not too late to donate! Remember that membership fees have been frozen for the last 3 seasons, so please make your one off tax deductible and do your bit - http://www.pointlonsdaleslsc.asn.au/the-club/new-clubhouse/

    New Clubhouse Capital Campaign Committee
(On behalf of Kirsten), the major task of recent weeks has been to complete a large Federal Grant - the Building Better Regions Fund ( https://www.business.gov.au/assistance/building-better-regions-fund ).
There is a LOT of work required to submit a quality application and we hope that we are successful as this could be the missing federal money that we are so desperate for.
