A CULTURE OF PHILANTHROPY

Dear St. Pius X Family,

The Advent season is upon us! Advent is a time of preparation for the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on Christmas. We are called to prepare, quiet, and discipline our hearts. While we look forward to Christmas, it is important for us to stay mindful of the present so that we can truly experience the full joy of Christmas.

Preparing for Christmas certainly comes with some stress as we decorate, purchase gifts for loved ones, and plan family gatherings. However, preparing for Christmas should also be peaceful, allowing us to pause in the midst of the busyness and to reflect on the coming of Christ. It’s also important to discipline our hearts by attending Advent Sunday Masses and participating in the Sacrament of Confession, which is being offered to our students tomorrow during our schoolwide Penance Service. Advent is a time of joy, and it is wonderful seeing our many student organizations and families as they sponsor Christmas gifts for our Dresden neighbors and care for those in need in our community.

That spirit of philanthropy is an important part of our culture here at St. Pius X. The light of your giving spirit shone brightly on #iGiveCatholic Day. On this national day of giving, our initial goal was to raise $75,000 for our Annual Fund; however, our community, with generous hearts, doubled our goal and raised over $150,000 in one day! Your generosity put us at number one for Catholic institutions in the Archdiocese of Atlanta and number fifteen for Catholic institutions nationally. An Annual Fund gift is not just any contribution; it is the most important gift you can make to our beloved school. If you have not contributed to this year’s campaign, I humbly ask that you prayerfully consider making a gift today.

In closing, please join me in praying for our students as they prepare to finish the semester strong. In the midst of final exams, extracurricular activities, and social pressures, I hope they can find calmness and peace so they too can prepare their hearts for Christmas. I hope everyone has a wonderful Advent and Christmas season.

SUPPORTING ST. PIUS X AS 2023 COMES TO A CLOSE

Because of our many generous benefactors, St. Pius X is a vibrant, thriving community! If you are looking to support St. Pius X while taking advantage of year-end giving, please read on to learn the many ways to do so!

Make an Annual Fund gift: Your gift to the Annual Fund is not just any contribution; it is the most important gift you can make to St. Pius X. This year we must raise $950,000 to pay our faculty, enrich academics, maintain our facilities, and more. To date, $786,000 has been contributed. Click here to give now!

Donate Stock: Donating appreciated stock is simple and provides a great opportunity to avoid capital gains while maximizing your charitable deduction. Click here to learn how. Donors contributing stock are strongly encouraged to send instructions to their broker by December 15. Any stock gifts initiated after this date will be handled on a best efforts basis.

Contribute from Your Donor Advised Fund: If you’ve set up a donor advised fund, take advantage of those charitable dollars for your year-end giving. These funds can be used for Annual Fund gifts, Ring the Bells Capital Campaign contributions, Scholarship donations, and more! Please note that these funds cannot be used for sponsorships.

Support the Ring the Bells Capital Campaign: Your donation will help us finish the campaign strong! With less than $800,000 more to go on our $14.8M goal, your donation will help complete the St. Joan of Arc Field House and Seaver Family Sports Complex upgrades. Gifts of $10,000 or more will be included on the donor recognition plaque. Click here to learn more.

Apply for a Matching Gift: Many companies offer matching gifts to their employees, doubling and sometimes tripling your contribution! Click here to see if your company matches gifts.

Things to note to ensure your gift is counted as a charitable contribution in 2023: Check envelopes must be sent via USPS and postmarked by December 31. Credit card gifts must be made before midnight EST on December 31. Thank you!

This event could not have happened without the Committee Chairs, parent and student volunteers, donors, alumni, Dr. Simpson, Rachel Braham, Blaise Wannemacher, Kim Woods, teachers, staff, the Facilities Team, vendors, shoppers, sponsors, the Mothers’ Club, St. Pius X families, and the community!
