ALL ROADS LEAD

TO ST. PIUS X

Dear St. Pius X Community,

In the words of Hall of Fame inductee and former athletics director Mark Kelly, “All roads lead to St. Pius X.”

This October, Mark’s words ring true, and the proof is our busy season! We are at the mid-point of our semester, in the midst of state playoffs, fine arts performances, the Domini Sumus retreat, our Annual Fund kick-off, and alumni reunion weekend.

If you haven’t been back to campus lately, I’d love to see you at reunion weekend this Friday through Sunday. Between the football game, the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, service project, pickleball tournament, Mass, and more, there’s something for everyone! Details can be found here

Our Annual Fund campaign began on October 1, and we’ve hit the ground running. We celebrated with a dunk tank on my birthday—is there a better gift than that? This year’s goal is $1.25 million, and we need your help to reach it. Here are three great reasons to support it:

  • Faith Formation: Our Campus Chaplain, Father Robbie, nurtures students’ spiritual lives and strengthens our Catholic mission.
  • Faculty Excellence: Competitive teacher salaries allow us to attract and retain outstanding educators who carry on our academic tradition.
  • Campus Safety: Dedicated police officers keep our community safe during the school day and at evening events.

In other exciting news, our search to find the ninth Principal in St. Pius X history is now underway. The top three qualities we seek are:

  • A practicing Catholic deeply committed to Catholic education
  • A proven academic leader with high school administrative experience
  • An appreciation for the history, traditions, and culture of St. Pius X

Kristin Kramer ‘98 has done a remarkable job serving as interim Principal. I have encouraged her to apply, and I know that she is prayerfully considering it.

In closing, I want to leave you with these words by Saint Thomas More: “I would rather have learning joined with virtue than all the treasures of kings.” St. Pius X exemplifies that ideal—a community where learning and virtue walk hand in hand. Our students are receiving an uncommon education that transcends success and failure. St. Pius X, pray for us!

Domini Sumus,

Aaron Parr '06

President

GRANDPARENTS' DAY 2025

On Friday, October 17, our campus was filled with joy as we welcomed nearly 200 grandparents of freshmen and new students for our annual Grandparents’ Day celebration. The morning began with a delicious breakfast accompanied by live jazz music and surrounded by beautiful student artwork. Fr. Robbie Cotta, our St. Pius X Chaplain, led a meaningful Mass, and senior Mackenzie Stultz shared a heartfelt reflection that touched everyone in attendance. The day wrapped up with guided campus tours, giving our guests a glimpse of life at St. Pius X. We’re so grateful to all the grandparents who joined us and helped make the day so special.

CAMPUS MINISTRY HOSTS ANNUAL DOMINI SUMUS RETREAT

Last weekend, Campus Ministry held the annual Domini Sumus Retreat—this year with a record number of attendees! Traveling to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, the group experienced powerful encounters with the Lord. Each student came seeking more, and the Lord abundantly provided through His love and mercy. Hearts were opened, questions were answered, and true freedom and peace were found through prayer, praise, and even a few games of bubble soccer! Praise God for all He continues to do through these retreats!

GOLDEN LIONS FALL WRAP-UP, WINTER WARM-UP!

Winter is COMING! As Fall Sports begin to wrap up, it’s time to put on your favorite PiHi pullover and join us at St. Pius X events, both home and away. The buzz around Flag Football is similar to that of pickleball, so come see what all the excitement is about on Thursday, October 23, at the George B. Maloof stadium as the Golden Lions battle North Atlanta at 6:00 p.m. and Riverwood at 8:00 p.m.

St. Pius X is honored to host the second group of our inaugural class of Hall of Fame inductees on Saturday, October 25. This ceremony coincides with Alumni Reunion Weekend, which kicks off with the annual BBQ ahead of the Golden Lions' crucial home football clash with Tucker on Friday night. Check out more about the Hall of Fame here!

Basketball season officially tips off on November 1 with a scrimmage at Lakeside. Coach Kevin Moore begins his first season leading the ladies, while recent Clemson commit Harris Reynolds will take the court for the boys.

The legendary Mike Lancaster, the region coach of the year, heads up a wrestling team that opens their season on November 25.

Competition cheer has one more event ahead of regionals, which will be on Saturday, October 25, at Lanier High School for the Championship at the Ranch.

Hats off to our softball and volleyball teams, who finished their season after defeats in the second round of the GHSA playoffs.

INTRODUCING OUR NEW INDUSTRIAL DESIGN CLASS

AND FIRST PROJECT: THE BUBBLE WAND CHALLENGE!

This year, St. Pius X launched a brand-new Industrial Design class, held in our new STEM Lab! The course was developed by faculty member Erin Freeman, who has been collaborating on 3D formatting and printing with Daniel Foley, assistant director of IT. This exciting course gives students hands-on experience in design thinking, digital modeling, and 3D printing—essential skills for a career in industrial design and design-related careers.

For the first project, students took on the challenge of designing and creating bubble wands. The process began with brainstorming and sketching their ideas in design journals to work out the details and measurements. They then brought their concepts to life using Tinkercad, a user-friendly 3D modeling software.

Once the designs were finalized, they were printed on the new Bamboo 3D printers. The results were amazing, with wands shaped like animals, rockets, and even abstract geometric shapes. The grand finale took place on the STEM lab terrace, where students put each wand to the test—seeing which design could create the largest and most impressive bubbles.
