The din of students traversing the hallways is a wonderful sound. It signals brief moments throughout the school day when friends catch up or weekend plans are discussed. Every once in a while, even some classwork might be mentioned in passing! Needless to say, the beginning of our school year is underway, and the faculty and staff of St. Pius X are elevated by the enthusiasm of our students. Last week, before the students arrived back on campus, all of our teachers gathered for our routine pre-planning to refresh syllabi, create new seating charts, prep materials, and generally dust off the...

HONOR CODE CHANGES

We have made some revisions and additions to our Honor Code this year. Most critically, we are reaffirming that harassment and bullying are Honor Code infractions. To that end, we have included our Diversity Statement in our Honor Code.

The statement reads:

“Our core commitment to the Gospel shapes our expectations for moral behavior inside and outside the classroom. We celebrate the gift of diversity and work to foster charity and inclusion in all we do. Any speech or action in violation of this commitment is contrary to the Church’s teaching and the mission of SPX and will not be tolerated."

Our Diversity Statement was written by a team of faculty, guided by Father Rey, to center our behavioral expectations in our Gospel values. Any violation of our commitment will be handled by our Honor Council, as are all Honor Code infractions.

DID YOU KNOW

The school crest contains much from the life of Pope St. Pius X. On the crest, the winged lion symbolizes St. Mark, the patron Saint of Venice, the city of which Cardinal Sarto was patriarch and cardinal before he became pope. As pope, Pius X retained this symbol for his own coat of arms. It is from this symbol that the school proudly calls itself the "Golden Lions."
