GRATITUDE

Dear St. Pius X family,

What better time, as we draw close to Thanksgiving and the Advent season, during which we prepare ourselves for Christ’s arrival on earth and in our hearts, to share my gratitude with you. The curriculum of the leadership class I teach offers space for a lesson in appreciation. Here, I convey to the students the strong correlation between gratitude and an individual’s well-being.

I am grateful for our students. I know I am biased, but our well-rounded St. Pius X students are both bright and talented. Our students make us proud, whether in the classroom, during a fine arts performance, or at a sporting event. In addition to being talented, they are simply good people. At the end of the Marist football game, I was down on the track when our students came together and prayed a Hail Mary. Their prayer was a beautiful witness to their love for one another and their faith. We didn’t get the outcome we wanted, but what other school has students who do that?

I am grateful for our faculty. Several faculty members have stepped up to teach an additional class prep due to student demand. Our teacher mentoring program pairs veteran faculty with our new teachers, providing the support they need. And our teachers and staff members regularly attend extra-curricular activities to ensure their students know they care about their lives outside the classroom.

I am grateful for our community, and I thank you for the sacrifices you make to support us. Whether it is by volunteering during special faculty lunches, providing pre-game meals for our kids, or coming in on Fridays for adoration. We notice and appreciate all your love and support. On a more personal level, the support you have offered me in this new role as President has moved me deeply. There is not a better school to drive into in the morning than St. Pius X Catholic High School.

I hope you all have a peaceful Thanksgiving. Please enjoy some much-needed downtime before the craziness of final exams and the approach of Christmas. Know that all of you are continually in my thoughts and prayers.

Domini Sumus,

Aaron Parr

Ring the Bells Steering Committee Thanked for Service

Monday, November 14 marked a special milestone in the Ring the Bells Capital Campaign journey. The Steering Committee that led the campaign from its inception in 2019 to today was celebrated for successfully reaching and surpassing the original $12M goal. Guests were given tours of the new lobby and Flannery O’Connor Library, and the Field House groundbreaking took place immediately following brief comments in the Library. The school is continuing with fundraising efforts to raise the remaining $1.6M of the final $14.8M goal. Please click here to learn more and to support the campaign.

CANNED FOOD DRIVE: LIVING OUR FAITH

Our recent Campus Ministry/National Honor Society canned food drive was a huge success. The students, faculty, and staff donated 2,450 canned food items weighing 2,453 lbs!

Our canned foods went to Streetwise Georgia, a non-profit that is committed to helping people whose income is low or at poverty level to rebuild their lives and function independently. Among the many services Streetwise Georgia provides is distributing boxed meals for families for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In addition, they will make 500 boxed meals for a local school where 90% of the student body is either at the poverty level, below the poverty level, or homeless. Our canned foods are going to help them make over 1,400 boxed meals.
