IN MEMORY OF POPE FRANCIS
Dear St. Pius X Community,
Monday morning, the Church around the world awoke to the news of the death of our Holy Father, Pope Francis. His passing marks the end of 55 years of priestly ministry during which a humble man from Argentina emerged on the global scene in 2013 as the Supreme Pontiff, inspiring the world through his emphasis on compassion, humility, and love, and offering the image of a "field hospital" as his vision for the Church in the world.
The Universal Church is in a period of mourning and prayer for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis, in gratitude for his lifetime of service, especially for his ministry as the successor of St. Peter.
Our extended community is invited to join us this week in prayer. Our all-school Mass at 10 a.m. on Friday morning will be offered for the Holy Father as we gather in prayer as a community. The Archdiocese of Atlanta will offer Mass for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis at the Cathedral of Christ the King on Thursday, April 24, at 7:00 p.m.
In the coming weeks, we'll have the unique opportunity to watch and pray as the Church lays the Holy Father to rest, while the College of Cardinals prepares to convene the conclave to elect the next Supreme Pontiff. We encourage everyone to be attentive and prayerful throughout this ancient and sacred process as the Church advances forward through the apostolic succession that has united us since the Church was born at Pentecost.
Thank you for being united in prayer for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis, and have a blessed Easter season.
In Christ,
Aaron Parr, President
Fr. Robbie Cotta, Chaplain
"Eternal rest grant unto him, Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."
