THE FUTURE OF ST. PIUS X

StPius1351 JOHN PREFERENCEsm.jpg

Happy Advent! Truly, I cannot believe that it is almost Christmas…the year has been a blur, but I hope it has been an excellent blur for you. Now is a normal time to take stock of our lives. It’s a healthy endeavor to count one’s blessings and recall how precious life is. I personally have been reflecting more than ever on my family ties this past year. Some of you know that my dad has been struggling in hospice for a few months now. Spending precious hours with him and my mom over Thanksgiving break was all I could ask for. But the reality is that I’ve been given so much more than those brief moments...

RING THE BELLS:

LIBRARY AND MEDIA CENTER

While the heart of St. Pius X is our chapel, the hub of our school is the library. This 8,000-square-foot center for campus activity and fellowship is alive with the buzz of Golden Lions studying, debating, researching, and enjoying one another’s company—and it is now bursting at the seams.

A modernized library will reallocate more of the space to our students while retaining the essential functions of a library. Flexible seating, a dedicated classroom, meeting spaces, and reduced stacks will create an environment that responds dynamically to student needs. The area can be reconfigured throughout the day for individuals and groups of varying size to use the space effectively, and technology will be integrated throughout so that our learners can always be plugged in.

SUMMARY:

  • Reclaim 40 percent of space for student learning
  • Multiple configurations for group work
  • Reconfigured computer stations
  • Improved access to courtyard
  • Shortened stacks for better light and sight lines
  • Larger event and meeting space

MILLION DOLLAR MATCH CHALLENGE

Chi-Rho Progress Thermometer.12.15.png

A generous donor has stepped forward to challenge us to raise $1 million by the end of March 2022 and they will match that amount dollar for dollar!

Please join us, double your dollars, and help us reach out goal. This campaign will ensure current and future students have access to the educational excellence and rich experience that defines St. Pius X. While construction will begin in this summer, pledges and gifts can be spread out over the next three years, allowing you to make a larger gift and impact over time.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU FROM PRESIDENT FAVIER

I wanted to thank two of our beloved teachers who are leaving St. Pius X at the end of December. Michele Berrell has been in our Theology department for close to twenty years and has always been a beacon of serenity and contemplation for our students. Her caring nature will be missed, but we wish her nothing but the best in her next phase of life! Alison Bruckert Wright ‘01 has been our Psychology teacher and cheerleading coach for thirteen years, sharing her enthusiasm and love of St. Pius with all. We know that departing Pius is very difficult for her, but we also know that she will do great things with her Pius pride going forward! Please feel free to reach out to Michele or Alison and join me in wishing them all of the best luck in the future.
