Remembering the "Why"

Dear St. Pius X Community,

So far we’ve had an exciting second semester. January and February brought us a completed softball and baseball complex, a successful Gala, the return of the Sadie Hawkins dance, and a wonderful Honors Assembly that highlighted the academic achievements of many of our students.

On February 20, Archbishop Hartmayer and the Papal Nuncio, Cardinal Christophe Pierre, visited our campus. The Papal Nuncio is Pope Francis’ ambassador to the United States, so this visit was an extraordinary honor for our school. Several of our upperclass Theology students were able to participate in a question and answer session with Cardinal Pierre, and four of our AP French students accompanied Cardinal Pierre around campus on a French-speaking tour. This unique experience offered our students an opportunity to interact with one of the leaders of our Universal Church.

Looking forward to the future, St. Pius is pleased to announce a new strategic plan that will help guide our school for the next five years. A group consisting of administrators, teachers, alumni, and both current and former parents will serve as the steering committee for this plan. In the next month, we will send out a survey to our many benefactors, offering you an opportunity to voice your thoughts and opinions about the future of St. Pius. Once the data-gathering process is complete, we will be able to identify target areas and get to work. Our finalized plan will be announced in the Fall, but I plan to be transparent with our community throughout the process.

It is with great pleasure that we present our benefactors with the 2022-2023 Annual Report. This report is a wonderful illustration of the vibrant and healthy community we have here at St. Pius X thanks to the generosity of so many.

In closing, I want you to know that being the President of this great institution is an honor but not an easy task. Many days challenge me in ways I could never predict. However, we don’t get burned out because of what we do, we get burned out because we forget our “why.” This vocation is about positively impacting our students so that they may go out and have a positive impact on the world. Everything we do comes back to what is best for the kids, and serving the student body is all the motivation I need. Thank you for your support and Go Lions!

Domini Sumus,

The Papal Nuncio Visits St. Pius X!

On Tuesday, February 20, St. Pius X was privileged to host Archbishop Gregory Hartmayer and Cardinal Christophe Pierre. Cardinal Pierre, the Papal Nuncio to the United States and the U.S. diplomat for Pope Francis, engaged with theology classes by answering their many questions. Additionally, students had the chance to provide him with a tour in French, his native language. This was such a wonderful opportunity for our school, and we sincerely thank Archbishop Hartmayer and Cardinal Pierre for visiting us!

Black History Month Assembly

On Friday, February 23, St. Pius X held the Black History Month Assembly, which is one of the most popular assemblies of the school year. Curated by the Diverse Student Union, the event showcased poetry, musical performances, heartfelt personal essays, and a captivating fashion display featuring attire from diverse cultures. Students and faculty also engaged in spirited rounds of Family Feud and Name that Tune, adding an element of lively competition to the event. The assembly succeeded in delivering an enlightening, entertaining, and introspective experience. Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible!

Auction & Gala Breaks Record!

This year's A Southern Charm Soiree Gala, held on February 3, was a huge success! Gala Co-Chairs, Dawn Duggan and Michelle Mancini, led their committee of dedicated volunteers to create the highest grossing and netting Gala to date, raising over $330,000. Their team created a magical evening reminiscent of being in a warm southern garden where music and wafts of delicious Southern fare filled the air. Spanish moss and garden roses added to the elegance, and the charming Scottish auctioneer prompted a paddle-raising frenzy to benefit the Fund-a-need cause, including renovated gym restrooms and golf carts benefiting our sports programs. It was truly the event of the year! Thank you to everyone who gave of their time and talent to make this Pius tradition one to remember.

Event details and registration information coming soon!
