The End of an Exceptional School Year

Dear St. Pius X Community,

It is hard to believe that the 2023-2024 school year is coming to an end. On Saturday, the Class of 2024 will walk across the stage at the new state-of-the-art Georgia State Convocation Center. This is the 66th graduating class, and after Saturday’s ceremony, we will have over 14,000 alumni. As we celebrate their accomplishments, we will recall all that this class overcame to get to this point. The Class of 2024 entered St. Pius in August of 2020, in the middle of the global pandemic. Between an abbreviated orientation and a fractured attendance schedule, their initial freshman experience was unusually challenging. However, we are very proud of the way they came together to become one of the closest-knit senior classes in the history of our school.

Today, we will unveil the first iteration of our new website. Our two goals for the new website were to make it user-friendly and to better brand our school for prospective families. We feel as though we have achieved both of these goals. In the coming months, we will make minor improvements to the website, but we are excited to go live today.

I want to encourage you to consider playing in our annual George B. Maloof Golf Tournament on June 24. For years, we had two golf outings, one to support Alumni Scholarships and the Football program and one to support the Athletic Association. We combined these two events with a morning and an afternoon flight, punctuated by a luncheon. This event offers a great opportunity for alumni, parents, and our greater community to come together in support of St. Pius at the beautiful Berkeley Hills Country Club.

In closing, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete our strategic planning survey and attend one of our listening sessions. Our strategic planning steering committee received some great input from the community, and we will now shift our focus to creating a plan for an ever-improving St. Pius as we move toward 2030. Please keep our students and faculty in your prayers as we close out the 2023-2024 school year.

Domini Sumus,

Farewell, Class of 2024. We'll Miss You!

The 66th graduating class of St. Pius X will be the first class to graduate at the new Georgia State Convocation Center. Commencement takes place on Saturday, May 18. We will miss this wonderful class, and we wish them success and happiness in their next chapter!

STEM Lab Grant Awarded

St. Pius X is among the Catholic Foundation's spring grant recipients, receiving word yesterday of a $5,000 grant to help build the school's first STEM Lab. Plans are underway to transform the former Donnellan Center Weight Room into a space where students can develop their science, engineering, and math skills by using technology to create and collaborate on projects. The school has also applied for a large grant from a family foundation, with the hopes of fully renovating and equipping the space. Next school year, St. Pius X is offering its first Robotics class, with future plans to use the STEM Lab for Digital Technology, Engineering, and Graphic and Industrial Design courses.

St. Pius X Catholic High School National Beta Club

Wins National Service Award

The National Beta Club at St. Pius X Catholic High School has proudly been named a 2024 National Beta Grand Slam Service award winner. The club earned this award by spending an average of 100+ hours per member serving their school, community, and state this year.

As one of the four pillars of National Beta, service is encouraged to help students learn to demonstrate the motto: Let Us Lead by Serving Others. By showing dedication to service, St. Pius X Catholic School Betas helped contribute to over 1,869,258 hours served by clubs across the nation this year. Collectively, Betas also raised $1,036,655 for various organizations and charities. The club at St. Pius X Catholic High School joins a group of only 59 other schools to earn the award this year.

“I am so proud of each of these fine young men and women and their commitment to their community, churches, families, and their school. I couldn’t be more excited that we won this prestigious honor in our inaugural year.”

- Amanda Myrick, National Beta Sponsor, St. Pius X Catholic High School

Members will each receive a commemorative pin, and the club will receive a custom Louisville Slugger mini-baseball bat to proudly display at school.
