On February 12, 2026, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency officially withdrew its 2009 Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding, which had previously provided the foundation for regulating emissions from new motor vehicles and engines. While the U.S. EPA’s rescission of the 2009 Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding changes the federal framework for greenhouse gas regulation, it does not impact California’s Clean Truck Check program. The program remains fully in effect because its purpose is to reduce smog-forming pollutants, specifically fine particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen, helping improve air quality while keeping California’s trucking fleet compliant and efficient. |
