Hello Optimist Club Presidents,
First gentleman Ron and I have participated in three Optimist International signature programs in the last week! What an honor for us, such an amazing experience! July 17-18 found us at the World Oratorical, it was incredible! The JOI Summit kicked off at the same time, enabling the JOI attendees to witness the speakers at the World Oratorical. I had the honor to speak to the JOI Summit participants at their kickoff. A great group of young leaders. We arrived in Miami for the Optimist Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 19.
After spending time with these young people, we can all be assured that our future is in great hands!
See below for a few fun facts on those events
2025 Oratorical World Championships
So many incredible young speakers! Most of us attending were extremely grateful not to be a judge of the contestants! Thank you to the Optimists on hand to volunteer!
Congratulations to the top three winners of the 2025 Optimist International World Oratorical:
- 1st place- Noémie Beauchamp (West Quebec, St. Lawrence Region)
- 2nd place- Rene Cruz (Arizona, West Coast Region)
- 3rd place- Riya Naroor (Northeast & Great Lakes)
The Junior Optimist International Summit kicked off at St. Loiuis university on July 17. The early kick off was so that the JOI members could witness the World Oratorical contestants speak. Such a great benefit to having these two signature programs run side by side! They have had training sessions, Candidates forum, a session with the JOI Board of Directors and a gardening service project. Check out their Facebook page for more information about the Summit: https://www.facebook.com/junioroptimist.
The Optimist Golf Tournament has completed its first session, two more to go! Check out the Optimist International Facebook page for updates and more information: https://www.facebook.com/optimistintl.
A Huge thank you to our Foundations for supporting these signature programs!
The Optimist International Foundation has provided support for the JOI Summit and the Optimist Golf program. Additionally, they provide scholarships for the winning speakers from the United States, the Caribbean and the World Region. The Canadian Children’s optimist Foundation provides scholarships for the winning speakers for the Canadian candidates.
Thank you OIF and CCOF!!!
