Young Adult Optimist Club: Growth Chair Mark Feilmann and committee members have been sharing information about the Young Adult Optimist club with Governors and District Growth leaders. I helped organization the Young Adult Optimist Club of Nepal while there for the Asia Pacific Optimist Conference (APOC). What an incredible group of young people ready to change the world!

This concept was originally developed by Fatima Zaidi, Central Ontario. It was determined to be a successful pilot. One idea for improvement was to have the Young Adult Optimist Clubs organized at the district level. This would allow the YAC members to convene in person for a project or a social event.
We have encouraged every District, Region or Zone to put together a Virtual Young Adult Optimist Club! For graduating and former JOI members, their friends and any young adults interested. Help them organize and let them develop their club, their goals and activities. Do not limit them with preconceived ideas that we may have! Let them develop their leadership and form their Optimist Club that meets their needs and ideas. I see this concept as a significant part of the future of Optimist International.
Presidents, refer former or graduating JOI youth to your District for your YAC. If that opportunity does not exist, consider building a Club within a Club for the young adults in your community.
