The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey Establishes the African American Cannabis Initiative.
TRENTON, NJ – September 12, 2022. Today, the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) announced its establishment of the African American Cannabis Initiative (AACI). The AACI supports and promotes the creation of equity, business continuity and sustainability, and generational wealth for Black entrepreneurs engaged in the cannabis industry. The AACI provides a platform for advocacy at all levels of government and offers mentorship opportunities, monthly roundtable discussions, networking events, technical assistance, access to capital, and engagement with cannabis-industry thought leaders.

“Simply put, the African American Cannabis Initiative will advance the economic interests of African-American businesses in the cannabis space,” stated John E. Harmon, Sr., IOM, Founder, President and CEO of the AACCNJ. “Through the AACI, we will further our advocacy for continued transparency and shared resources, opportunities, and information to ensure the success of Black-owned businesses in a market that is expected to reach $2 billion in sales by 2025 by most estimates.”

A division of the AACCNJ, the AACI is open to entities that have a New Jersey cannabis license, are actively applying for a New Jersey cannabis license and need support, or are curious about the cannabis industry but are not yet ready to apply for a license. For information on how to join the AACI, contact the AACCNJ at 609-571-1620.
