Burlington, Vermont --- The Vermont Captive Insurance Association is pleased to announce the addition of two new captive owners to its Board of Directors. Joining the board in October of this year, both have been very active in the captive industry and involved in the Association for many years.
Joe Carter is Vice President, Business Development and UE Experience at United Educators, a Reciprocal Risk Retention Group, where he sets the strategy for UE’s growth, which includes planning the sales, marketing, and distribution strategies that ensure success. He is also responsible for teams that manage UE’s brand and constituent experience strategy, the Voice of Constituent (VOC) program, digital experience, member support, marketing, and communications. Prior to joining UE, he served in executive and leadership roles at Bank of America, Prudential Property and Casualty and Allstate Corporation. He currently serves as a Board Member for the National Business Officers Association headquartered in Washington, D.C., and is an active member of several other education-focused associations.
As the Vice President of Risk Management for Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Gail Newman works to innovate risk management strategies and evolve efficiencies in business practices to support the company’s global approach to Enterprise Risk Management. Gail is a seasoned leader with more than 20 years of management experience in the disciplines of financial and operations management, six sigma/business process improvement, leading internal audit organizations as well as insurance and captive management. Passionate about finding synergies in business and her community, Gail is actively involved with volunteering with the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, supporting the Vermont Captive Insurance Association, serving as a Board Member of the Bunker Hill Community College Foundation, and supporting sustainable gardening and farming efforts in her hometown.
Stepping off the board are Jan Klodowski of Agrisurance Inc. in East Syracuse, NY, and Wilda Seymour, formerly of Franklin Casualty Insurance Company RRG in Philadelphia, PA.
“My deepest thanks to Jan Klodowski and Wilda Seymour for the leadership, energy and friendship provided me, VCIA’s staff, and the Association during their terms on the VCIA Board,” VCIA President Rich Smith stated.
Both incoming directors bring a wealth of experience to VCIA and the Association looks forward to embracing their excellent leadership.
