6th Street Playhouse to Present Gypsy: A Musical Fable
The showstopper musical stars Broadway's own Kathy Fitzgerald!

SANTA ROSA, CA (August 8, 2019) 6th Street Playhouse to present Gypsy: A Musical Fable , by Arthur Laurents, Music & Lyrics by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim, Music Directed by Brian Sennello, Choreographed by Joseph Favalora, and directed by Jared Sakren.

The production will run September 20th to October 20th, 2019, in the GK Hardt Theatre.

This sizzling musical inspired by burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee chronicles the young performer, her greedy showbiz mom Rose and the family's rise to stardom. Featuring songs like "Everything's Coming Up Roses", "Some People", "Rose's Turn", "Together, Wherever We Go" and "Let Me Entertain You"!
Gypsy: A Musical Fable stars Broadway's own Kathy Fitzgerald (pictured) as Mama Rose. A Broadway character actress extraordinaire, Fitzgerald got her Great White Way start playing multiple roles in the Johnny Burke revue Swinging on a Star, and juggled several characters, including fabulously butch lighting designer Shirley Markovitz, during her six-year stint in the original Producers. Other Broadway credits include the scene-stealing office assistant Roz in 9 to 5, roles in  The Next Three Days and  Our Idiot Brother, the malicious headmistress Madame Morrible in Wicked, and currently as the absent-minded Mrs. Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kathy back to the Playhouse after performing in a fundraiser here in 2017, and to now have her on board for an entire production!" said Director Jared Sakren. "Kathy is a dear friend of mine and I am excited to be directing her in this fantastic show. She, along with Broadway-bound Carmen Mitchell as daughter Louise, will be a dynamic duo that I'm sure will astound audiences. Gypsy: A Musical Fable chronicles one family's rise to stardom, and The Playhouse is eager to showcase the outstanding talent of both a Broadway veteran, that of a young actor on the rise, and an incredible ensemble ready for 'their turn'."

The full cast features: Kathy Fitzgerald* as Mama Rose, Carmen Mitchell* as Louise, Roger Michelson* as Herbie, Melody Payne as Dainty June, Cecilia Brenner as Young Louise, Elaine Jennings as Mazeppa/ Renee, the Maid/Mother in I.1, Lillian Myers as Electra/Mother in I:1/Crachitt, Tracy Hinman as Tessie Tura/Ensemble, Harry Farmer as Pop/Ensemble, Khalid Shayota as Weber (Theatre Mgr LA)/Ensemble, Guy Conner as Mr. Goldstone/Bourgeron-Cochon/Ensemble, Landon Scott as Yonkers/Young Men’s Ensemble, Zach Frangos as Tulsa/Young Men’s Ensemble, Austin Maisler as LA/Young Men’s Ensemble/Cow #2, Robby Campbell as Young Men’s Ensemble/Cow #2, Montana Hamel as Young Women’s Ensemble/Cow #1, Peri Zoe YildIrim-Stanley as Waitress/Young Women’s Ensemble/Cow #1, Sarah Cornett as Young Women’s Ensemble, Madeline Brown as Young Women’s Ensemble, Allison Paine as Young Women’s Ensemble, Liev Bruce-Low as Boy w/clarinet/Children’s Ensemble, Rekha Healy as Children’s Ensemble, Dmitry Seder as Children’’s Ensemble, and Maggie Ward as Girl w/Balloons/Children’s Ensemble.

*New this Season! Announcing the 'Monroe Stage'!
The Playhouse received a very, very generous gift from a local philanthropist to upgrade the Studio Theatre, add parking and make numerous facility improvements over a number of years. We are humbled and exceedingly grateful! To honor the family making the gift the Studio Theatre will now be known as the ‘Monroe Stage'.
