SANTA ROSA, CA
(January 4, 2020)-- 6th Street Playhouse presents
A View from the Bridge -
written by Arthur Miller and directed by Artistic Director Jared Sakren.
Sakren had this to say about the play, “Considered by many to be Arthur Miller's most underrated play, and one of his very best,
A View From The Bridge
packs a wallop emotionally and offers some of the best acting opportunities of any play I have ever worked on. I think seeing
Bridge
will be an unforgettable experience."
An award-winning play about Italian-American 1950s immigrant life, it’s the retold story of Brooklyn longshoreman Eddie Carbone—a man who holds family and honor above all else—yet betrays them both.
Locked in a fading marriage, Eddie becomes increasingly infatuated with his nubile niece he’s raising as a daughter. When she falls for one of her illegally immigrated cousins, whom Eddie has invited to stay in the family home, their lives are set on a tragic course.
Staged in a raw, stripped-down style by director Jared Sakren (
West Side Story
,
Gypsy
), the production leaves the riveting words of Miller to speak for themselves.
The production features Ed McCloud as Eddie Carbone, Mary Delorenzo as Beatrice, and Nina Cauntay as Catherine.
