6th Street Playhouse to Present
Buddy- The Buddy Holly Story
“The true story of a rock & roll legend.
January 10 to February 9, 2020

SANTA ROSA, CA (December 12, 2019) 6th Street Playhouse—Jared Sakren, Producing Artistic Director—presents Buddy-The Buddy Holly Story , written by Alan Janes and directed by DJ Salisbury.

After the rousing success of Million Dollar Quartet , 6th Street Playhouse brings another great jukebox musical to Santa Rosa.

BUDDY—THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY tells the true story of Buddy’s meteoric rise to fame, from the moment in 1957 when “That’ll be the Day” hit the airwaves, until his tragic death less than two years later on the “Day the Music Died.”

Starring Kyle Jurassic* as Buddy Holly, the show features over 20 of Buddy Holly’s greatest hits, including “That’ll be the Day,” “Peggy Sue,” and “Oh, Boy.”
Back in the 1950’s, Buddy formed his band, The Crickets in Lubbock, Texas. The world had never seen anything like it. His twangy delivery and hard rock rhythms took him on a fast track to fame.

Buddy got together with a drummer, a bass player and a rhythm guitarist (played in our production by Nick Ambrosino, Engin Yesilyemis, and Steve Lasiter) and soon musicians like The Beatles and the Rolling Stones were copying his style.
Buddy is directed by DJ Salisbury, with musical direction by John Banister, Music Supervisor for Buddy Worldwide. John plays Norm Petty, Buddy’s manager, and re-wrote the music score that is used across the world.
