Air Evac to host ribbon cutting for new Ada, Oklahoma facility
Air Evac Lifeteam's New Facility at the Ada Municipal Airport
ADA, OKLAHOMA - Air Evac recently completed the construction of a new facility at the Ada Municipal Airport, resulting in greater access to a higher level of emergency health care for the community. To celebrate its new facility and location in Ada, Oklahoma, a ribbon cutting and ceremony will be held on November 8, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

Air Evac is a helicopter air ambulance service that provides 24/7 service to those in need of definitive health care. Crews, consisting of a pilot, flight nurse and flight paramedic, may transport patients from the scene of an emergency or between medical facilities. When the company was founded in 1985, air ambulances were primarily based in metropolitan areas. However, Air Evac founders believed that those who need air medical transport the most are those living in rural areas, often far away from a Level 1 or 2 trauma center.  By choosing to relocate in Ada, Air Evac will provide the citizens of Ada and the surrounding communities with faster response times for air ambulance services, resulting in economic and quality of life benefits for the community.

Steve Bates, senior program director for the Ada Air Evac Lifeteam base, said getting patients to a Level 1 or 2 trauma center can mean better outcomes for those in need.

"Air Evac Lifeteam's mission is to provide access to a higher level of emergency health care for patients with life- or limb-threatening injuries or illnesses," Bates said. Moving to Ada was necessary to provide our services to the communities in the most need. Ada is geographically located in such a place that ground transport to a level 1 trauma center is 90 minutes away and we can do it by air in 30 mins. We still serve the counties around us which includes Pauls Valley, where we were based. By working with Mercy Hospital and the City Of Ada we were able to bring this life saving service to the community and better place the air asset to the surrounding counties. I would like to thank Mercy Hospital Ada President Lori Wightman and City Manager Cody Holcomb for the support and hard work it took to get us based out of Ada."

"We are excited to welcome a new employer to the community who offers an extremely valuable service to the region," said Michael Southard, President of the Ada Jobs Foundation. "Not only will 14 jobs be created directly by Air Evac, but we anticipate indirect and induced jobs will result as well.

Air Evac will locate 14 staff at its Ada Municipal Airport facilities to provide helicopter air ambulance services to the area. The average wage will exceed $30 per hour and include six salaried employees and eight hourly employees. The company's Ada facility includes an office, sleeping quarters, hangar, and helipad. Air Evac is located at 231 John Herrington Ave, Ada, Oklahoma.
