Announcing the 3rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Parade at The Gateway

Take Care Utah is having their 3rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Parade on Saturday September 22nd at The Gateway at 11:00 AM.

Salt Lake City | September 20, 2018

Take Care Utah is organizing its 3rd annual Hispanic Heritage Parade on Saturday, September 22nd at The Gateway in Salt Lake City from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This event serves two purposes: 1) To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and 2) To raise awareness of Utah’s highest in the nation uninsured rate for Hispanic kids and to offer Take Care Utah as a resource for free help.

In its first year, the event drew 2,500 people. Last year the event drew over 5,000 people and we expect that number to grow this year. We have multiple sponsorships for this event, including Telemundo Utah, Broadway Media, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, and the Downtown Alliance.

In addition to a fun and festive parade through the heart of The Gateway, the event will feature local artisans, dance performances, live music, a car show, and other family friendly entertainment. Participants will enjoy fresh-made food from multiple Hispanic countries including Peru, Cuba, El Salvador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. There will also be beer available, including Mexican lagers and micheladas (a tasty beverage with tabasco, chili powder, clamato, and salt).

The event is not only a chance to enjoy great food, drinks, entertainment and fun.

Take Care Utah’s team of enrollment assisters will be there to offer FREE help with questions about health insurance and free help applying for health insurance.

This event is unique because it is the only event in Utah that celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with a parade.” says Randal Serr, Director of Take Care Utah. “We are thrilled to provide this venue for people to represent their culture or country of origin.”
We recognize that Utah’s Hispanic community is fearful of sharing personal information in order to sign up for health insurance. Take Care Utah aims to be a trusted community resource and ally of the Hispanic community through organizing this annual event.

Take Care Utah (TCU) is a statewide network of nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping people learn about and sign up for health insurance. This network consists of over 50 navigators and enrollment specialists all across Utah. All services are provided free of charge.
Our goal is to attract the Hispanic community to a fun and festive event. Once there, Take Care Utah enrollment specialists will promote their free service help the attendees understand and enroll in health insurance.
Take Care Utah is able to arrange pre-parade interviews with parade participants, marchers, enrollment experts, and Utah families looking for health insurance. Contact Randal Serr ( ) for more information and details.
