Austin, TEXAS - A local leading real estate investment firm commits to raise funds for the Firefly Fund at the FORE! Their Future, Help Light Their Way event on Tuesday, March 21. The intimate event will coincide with the World Golf Championships - Dell Technologies Match Play. The evening includes a fireside conversation with pro golfers Brandel Chamblee and Joe Ogilvie with music by Jack Ingram, Cody Braun, Willie Braun and Bruce Robinson. Information and tickets can be found at http://www.firefly.fund/March21.
The firm became involved with the Firefly Fund after a team member's family received life-changing news. In the spring of 2016, Chris and Pam Andrews discovered their two young daughters, Belle and Abby, inherited a vicious genetic disease, Niemann-Pick Type C1 (NPC1). NPC1 is a progressive, neurodegenerative disease that primarily occurs in children. It affects every cell of the body making simple tasks like walking, eating, and talking extremely difficult and is ultimately fatal.
After securing treatment for their daughters, the Andrews launched the Firefly Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding and supporting the research and education necessary to accelerate a cure for rare neurodegenerative genetic diseases that affect children. Belle (seven) and Abby (three) Andrews are the inspiration behind the Firefly Fund. The Firefly Fund is working with partner Dell Children's Medical Center of Seton Healthcare Family to find a cure for NPC1 and all neurodegenerative diseases that affect children.
The event hopes to raise awareness around the Firefly Fund's mission and efforts. Additional supporters include: Jason Black, Marianne Dwight, Laura and Morris Gottesman, Al Koehler, Christy and Turk Pipkin, and Chris Whitaker. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.firefly.fund/March21 or at the door on March 21.
