CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The City of Charlottesville is announcing the following closures in response to the Coronavirus.
Albemarle and Charlottesville General District Courts
- Courts will be closed today, Monday, March 16, 2020. Video bond hearings and protective orders will still be heard. Those hearings will be at 9 a.m. in Albemarle and 10 a.m. in Charlottesville. All other matters will be continued. The clerk’s office will send notices of hearing to impacted individuals with the new court dates and times.
Charlottesville Parks & Recreation
- The City has cancelled all city-sponsored events and activities, including activities managed by the Parks & Recreation Department (

) effective immediately. Previously approved special events in March have already been cancelled or postponed by the event organizers.
Jefferson Madison Regional Library
- All JMRL locations will be closing this evening at 6 p.m. through the end of March. Library managerial staff will be in branches M-F, 9-5 to process material returns and field phone calls.
Economic Development Programs
- With the library closure, the Downtown Job Center and Home to Hope will not be open for regular services.
