Clinics Available For Third Pfizer Dose
The Calhoun County Public Health Department (CCPHD) will offer Calhoun County residents the additional dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at three clinics on Wednesdays in October. Eligibility for the third dose is limited at this time to anyone who has received the second Pfizer dose at least six months ago AND meets one of these conditions,
  • individuals 65 years of age and older;
  • individuals 18 through 64 years of age at high risk of severe COVID-19 due to certain underlying medical conditions (click here for a list of medical conditions); and
  • individuals 18 through 64 years of age whose frequent institutional or occupational exposure to COVID-19 puts them at high risk of serious complications of COVID-19. For details on frontline essential workers and health care workers, please visit calhouncountymi.gov/covidvaccine

These clinics will offer appointments and walk-ins. To make an appointment, please visit calhouncountymi.gov/covidvaccine. Appointments are strongly encouraged to reduce wait times, however, they are not required. For individuals that are having trouble accessing the online scheduler or lack internet access, please call 269-441-0912 for assistance in scheduling appointments.

Upcoming Vaccine Clinics:
  • Marshall: Wednesday, Oct. 6, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Crossroads Church (717 US Highway 27, Marshall).
  • Battle Creek: Wednesday, Oct. 13, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Battle Creek YMCA Multi Sports Complex (66 Cherry Street, Battle Creek)
  • Albion: Wednesday, Oct. 20, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Opportunity High School (225 E. Watson Street, Albion)

Please note that on Oct. 6, 13, and 20, the Public Health Department services at the Toeller Building and Albion Health Department will be closed due to staffing the vaccine clinics listed above.

Many of the people who are now eligible to receive a booster shot received their initial vaccine early in the vaccination program and will benefit from additional protection. With the Delta variant’s dominance as the circulating strain and cases of COVID-19 increasing significantly across the United States and Calhoun County, a third dose will help strengthen protection against severe disease in those populations who are at high-risk for exposure to COVID-19 or the complications from severe disease.

Please remember to bring your COVID-19 vaccine card and ID to the CCPHD vaccine clinic to allow for quicker processing and waiting times. If you are unable to make it to the upcoming clinic, please contact your local healthcare provider or pharmacy as many licensed facilities are currently administering third dose shots in Calhoun County. Immunization records are available online at the Michigan Immunization Portal (https://mdhhsmiimmsportal.state.mi.us/) and can be downloaded, printed, and brought to a vaccine clinic. To obtain one's record, Michiganders must create a MILogin account at on the Michigan Immunization Portal and upload a valid government issued photo ID such as a driver's license, state ID, or passport. There is no cost to access the portal.

Please be aware the Calhoun County Public Health Department will NOT be doing any flu shots at the three upcoming mass vaccine clinics. During the month of October, the CCPHD will offer walk-in flu and COVID-19 vaccines on Friday mornings at both CCPHD locations—Toeller Building and at our Albion Health Department.

The COVID-19 vaccine and booster shot are the best way to keep from getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. In addition, continue following the CDC's public health prevention measures to help slow the spread of COVID-19:
  • wear a mask indoors
  • stay 6 feet away from others not within your household
  • wash your hands often
  • stay home if you are sick
