Drive Clean Indiana and IDEM Unveil GOEVIN:
A Statewide Initiative to Drive Electric Vehicle Adoption
Indiana - Drive Clean Indiana, in partnership with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and the Indiana Utility Group, is thrilled to announce the launch of the groundbreaking initiative GOEVIN: GO Electric Vehicle INdiana. This collaborative effort aims to propel the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) across Indiana, leading the charge toward a cleaner and more sustainable transportation future.
At the heart of GOEVIN is a joint commitment to foster a statewide EV ecosystem, supported by unbiased and informative educational resources that enlighten Hoosiers about the benefits of EVs. The GOEVIN Team, comprised of IDEM, the Indiana Utility Group, and Drive Clean Indiana, is dedicated to raising consumer awareness and understanding of EVs, thus driving their widespread acceptance within the state.
One of the pivotal components of this initiative is the Indiana Volkswagen Mitigation Settlement, managed by IDEM. With a dedicated allocation of $6.15 million, this fund is set to revolutionize Indiana’s EV charging network. IDEM undertook a Request for Proposals (RFP) process to secure applications from both the public and private sectors for EV charging deployment. We are delighted to announce that the Indiana Utility Group, a coalition of 8 Indiana utilities, has been selected to lead the charge in developing Indiana’s fast-charging corridors.
As part of the GOEVIN initiative, the Indiana Utility Group will strategically deploy 61 Direct Current Fast Chargers (DCFC) along major highway routes in the state. These fast chargers will be conveniently situated no more than one mile from highway exits, ensuring seamless access for EV users across Indiana. This development promises to significantly enhance the state's charging infrastructure, making EVs a practical choice for all Hoosiers.
In addition to bolstering charging infrastructure, IDEM administered an additional RFP to enlist organizations that can champion electric vehicle education, outreach, and marketing throughout Indiana. Drive Clean Indiana, the state’s Department of Energy Clean Cities Coalition, emerged as the recipient of this contract. Drive Clean Indiana will play a pivotal role in educating and supporting electric vehicle owners, charging station operators, EV manufacturers, and electric utility providers, thereby fostering a robust and interconnected EV community.
GOEVIN is not just about infrastructure; it's about catalyzing a shift towards sustainable transportation choices, reducing emissions, and creating a cleaner and healthier environment for all Hoosiers. By establishing effective EV infrastructure and fostering a collaborative ecosystem, GOEVIN is set to drive Indiana towards a brighter, electric future.
Join us in this transformative journey as we pave the way for cleaner transportation in Indiana. For more information about GOEVIN and its initiatives, visit www.goevin.com.
