Fairfax County NAACP Reflects on 'Souls to the Polls' Event and Urges Community Participation in Upcoming Elections

Important Dates, Resources, and Support Available for Fairfax County Voters

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA. (Nov. 3, 2023) The Fairfax County NAACP branch is proud to share the success of their recent 'Souls to the Polls' event, held Sunday, October 29, 2023 in the Route 1 area. This impactful event was a two-part endeavor, beginning with a gathering at the landmark sign commemorating the Harper v Virginia landmark case, a pivotal moment in history that removed poll tax requirements. From there, they moved to the Mt. Vernon Government Center, where they engaged with voters, shared important remarks, and celebrated their shared commitment to democracy.

As the Fairfax County and Virginia State elections approach, the Fairfax County NAACP urges the community to stay informed, engaged, and involved. The organization encourages all residents to visit their 2023 Candidate Page to acquaint themselves with the individuals—and their platforms—who are shaping the future of Fairfax County and Virginia.

As the elections approach in Northern Virginia, the Branch underscores the importance of active civic participation. Every eligible voter in Fairfax County is urged to exercise their right and vote in the upcoming elections.

Important Dates To Remember:

  • Early Voting: Available through November 4th
  • Election Day: November 7th
  • Cure the Ballot: November 8th (Fix any missing information to ensure your ballot is counted)

Missed the Registration Deadline? You Still Have a Voice!

Virginia offers Same Day Voter Registration, allowing eligible voters who missed the October 16th registration deadline to register and cast a provisional ballot. Exercise your right to vote by taking advantage of Same Day Voter Registration.

Stay Informed: Track Your Absentee Ballot Status

For voters who have chosen to vote absentee, it's crucial to track the status of your ballot. Visit Ballot Scout to monitor your absentee ballot and ensure it is counted.
