Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Celebrates National Travel & Tourism Week

Celebrating the power of travel with giveaways and social media fun


GEORGETOWN, KY - April 28, 2026The Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission is celebrating National Travel & Tourism Week May 3-9 with a week full of social media competitions, giveaways, a tourism open house, and chances to win Georgetown experiences, VIP tours & more!


“National Travel & Tourism Week is one of my favorite times of the year—it’s when we really get to celebrate how much travel means to our community. From supporting our local businesses to creating fun, memorable experiences for both visitors and locals, tourism plays a huge role here in Scott County. We’ve got so many great places, people, and stories to share, and this week is all about getting out, exploring, and maybe even discovering something new right here at home.” Lori Saunders, Executive Director of Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission.

Welcome Center Open House: Located at 399 Outlet Center Dr, the Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission will welcome visitors on Wednesday, May 6th (2 pm-4 pm) with sweet treats (while supplies last), photo booth fun, and popcorn! Visitors are encouraged to stay, mingle, and learn how travel has such an important impact on our Scott County community.



Social Media Competitions & Major Giveaways

From May 4th-8th, Georgetown/Scott County Tourism will host daily social media competitions, ranging from photo contests to scavenger hunts, for prizes including local gift certificates! 


Every participant will also be entered into our National Travel & Tourism Week Giveaway for a chance to win one of these amazing grand prizes:

  • Private 4-person horseback ride with Whispering Woods Riding Stable
  • Private 4-person tour of Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm
  • Historic Downtown Georgetown gift certificate bundle
