Introducing the Saturday Mercado: A New Outdoor Creative Market Coming to 446 Main Street in Downtown Worcester

WORCESTER, MA A new outdoor creative market is coming soon to Downtown Worcester: the “Saturday Mercado,” presented by the Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District (BID), Kommon Sense Co. (K Sense Co.), and the Worcester Regional Food Hub. The series of eight weekend markets will take place at “The Glass Tower” located at 446 Main Street every Saturday starting July 22 through September 9 from 12pm to 4pm, with vendors and activities outdoors in the courtyard and green space. 
“The Saturday Mercado will be a great addition to Downtown life this summer, bringing a curated selection handmade and vintage goods, a farmers’ market, delicious local food, entertainment, and more to Main Street,” said Downtown Worcester BID Executive Director Evelyn Darling. “We are especially thrilled to collaborate with partners like K Sense Co. and the Worcester Regional Food Hub to activate the beautiful green space outside the iconic ‘Glass Tower,’ at 446 Main Street – a long-desired goal for the area that’s come up time and again from residents and visitors alike.”

Saturday Mercados will feature: 
  • A selection of unique handmade and vintage goods to shop, curated by K Sense Co. 
  • A farmer’s market offering fresh produce and more from local farms 
  • A diverse lineup of delicious local food from a variety of participants in Worcester Regional Food Hub’s food entrepreneurship programs 
  • Live music, sponsored by Major Bloom 
  • A relaxing outdoor lounge area 
  • Large-scale art pieces from reuse artist Chris King, featuring collaborative art for market visitors to contribute to 
  • Plus, additional featured artists, fun giveaways, and more 
“Saturday Mercados will offer local food from a diverse lineup of participants in the Worcester Regional Food Hub’s food entrepreneurship programs, feeding market visitors delicious food that’s made with love by local small business owners,” said Shon Rainford, Director of the Worcester Regional Food Hub. “Visiting the market will be a great way to taste something new and support some fantastic emerging food entrepreneurs in our community.” 
Katherine Aguilar, Founder and CEO of K Sense Co., has previously organized many popular makers’ markets in the area, including several at Redemption Rock Brewing Co. and the Worcester Regional Food Hub Marketplace. Now, she’s looking forward to creating a unique experience Downtown. 
“Having organized many different markets and workshops all around Worcester and participated in even more as a creative small business owner myself, I know the impact that markets like this can have on the community,” Aguilar said. “The Saturday Mercado will showcase some of the amazing creative entrepreneurs in our area and bring a fun new way to ‘shop small’ to Downtown Worcester. It’s going to be one of the most vibrant, diverse, creative experiences in the city this summer.” 
Artists, crafters, makers, vintage resellers, and more are invited to apply now to be a part of the Saturday Mercado shopping experience. The vendor fee is $55/market. Applications will be accepted until space is filled. Apply through K Sense Co. at: 
The Saturday Mercado series will also tie-in with other Downtown Worcester events and celebrations, including the Worcester Latin American Festival on August 19 and the Pride Worcester Festival on September 9.
