PEORIA, IL (August 6, 2026) — The RiverPlex Recreation and Wellness Center invites the community to celebrate 25 years of health, wellness, and connection during its 25th Anniversary Block Party on Friday, August 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a special recognition ceremony at 1:00 p.m. at the RiverPlex, 600 NE Water Street in Peoria.
The free event will celebrate the people, partnerships, and community support that have shaped the RiverPlex over the past quarter century. A special 25th Anniversary Recognition Ceremony will take place at 1:00 p.m., featuring remarks from Peoria Park District Board President Robert L Johnson Sr., as well as OSF HealthCare President Michael Wells.
Since opening its doors on August 10, 2001, the RiverPlex has welcomed generations of patrons seeking opportunities to improve their health, stay active, learn new skills, and connect with others. The facility was made possible through the shared vision and investment of the Peoria Park District, OSF HealthCare, the City of Peoria, and the Bielfeldt Foundation, creating a destination dedicated to recreation, wellness, and community for Greater Peoria. Today, it continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of Greater Peoria while remaining committed to helping people of all ages live healthier, more active lives.
"For 25 years, the RiverPlex has been more than a recreation center. It has been a place where people have learned to swim, recovered from injuries, reached personal fitness goals, built friendships, and created lifelong healthy habits. This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate every member, participant, employee, volunteer, and partner who has been part of that journey. We are proud of our history and excited to continue serving our community for many years to come," said Courtney Johnson, RiverPlex General Manager.
Throughout the celebration, guests can enjoy free activities, fitness demonstrations, wellness resources, food vendors, and family-friendly entertainment.

- Rec 'n Roll lawn games from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Free rock wall climbing from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Personal training consultations from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m
- 25th Anniversary Recognition Ceremony at 1:00 p.m.

Guests are also invited to participate in complimentary fitness classes throughout the day:
- 11:00 to 11:25 a.m.: Yoga with Nancy
- 11:30 to 11:55 a.m.: Les Mills RPM Cycling with Steve
- 12:00 to 12:25 p.m.: Small Group Training with Ashley
- 2:00 to 2:25 p.m.: Les Mills Sprint Cycling with Steve
