Larz Anderson Auto Museum Presents: "Shifting Perspectives – The Japanese Car Revolution"

Brookline, MA – April 28, 2025– The Larz Anderson Auto Museum proudly announces its latest exhibit, "Shifting Perspectives – The Japanese Car Revolution," opening on May 10th at 10 AM. This immersive exhibit explores Japan’s rise from post-war reconstruction to global automotive dominance, highlighting Japanese cars and motorcycles' cultural and technological impact on American life.

Visitors will experience the pivotal moments that defined Japan’s automotive legacy—from the 1970s oil crisis, which boosted demand for fuel-efficient Japanese cars, to the surge of global enthusiasm fueled by video games, Hollywood street racing films, and the sport of drifting.

Featured vehicles include the Datsun 240ZMazda RX-7Acura NSXLexus LFA, and the beloved Mazda Miata, along with a selection of JDM Kei microtrucks like the Honda Acty, reflecting the charm and innovation of Japan’s compact vehicle segment.

A special highlight will showcase select Honda motorcycles, paying tribute to Japan’s motorcycling heritage and the iconic slogan, "You meet the nicest people on a Honda," which redefined two-wheeled culture worldwide.

“Japanese cars reshaped the global auto industry with their blend of innovation, style, and performance, inspiring a passionate community of enthusiasts here in New England and far beyond,” said Sheldon Steele, Executive Director and Exhibit Curator. “This exhibit celebrates not only the machines, but the cultural revolution they sparked.”
