The Capitol Announces October Movie Showings:

7 Spooky Films For The Halloween Season + Next 007 Bond Film & more

BURLINGTON, IOWA - The Capitol is proud to announce 8 films coming to Downtown Burlington this October, including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 007 Goldfinger, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, Monster House, Clue, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and John Carpenter's Halloween.


Kicking off the October film events is the 1974 classic horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Rated R), airing at 7:30pm Wednesday, October 4th.


Saturday, Oct 7th The Capitol's Bond series continues with the iconic 007 film Goldfinger (Rated PG) starring Sean Connery. Up next is the 1988 film Killer Klowns From Outer Space (Rated PG-13) arriving at 7:30pm on Wednesday, October 11th.


October's FREE children's movie, courtesy of the PiECES After School Program, is Monster House (Rated PG) at 1pm on Saturday, October 14th. Come early for some fun kids activities happening before the film.


Also happening Saturday, October 14th is Cheap Movie Date Night with the 1985 whodunit film Clue (Rated PG) at 7pm – just $15 for 2 tickets, 2 sodas/waters and 2 popcorns!


Wednesday, October 18th at 7:30pm is the original 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street (Rated R), followed by 1982's Halloween III: Season of the Witch (Rated R) on Wednesday the 25th at 7:30pm. Closing out the month is the audience interactive night with the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Rated R) at 10pm on Friday, October 27th, followed by John Carpenter's Halloween (Rated R) at 7:30pm on Saturday, October 28th.


The Rocky Horror Picture Show tickets are $15 each and include a prop bag.


Movie tickets at The Capitol are $8 for adults / $6 for kids & students and are available for purchase at BurlingtonCapitolTheater.com & the box office.


The Capitol is a historic downtown Burlington venue, featuring a 367 seat auditorium and a concession stand with snacks including popcorn and candy as well as sodas, water and a range of wine and beer. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the concession stand.

Located in the heart of downtown Burlington, the restored Capitol Theater recaptures an era when movies and live entertainment were enjoyed in beautiful and unique theaters.


This 1937 Art Deco jewel re-opened in 2012. The intimate 367-seat venue, along with its reception and gallery annex, hosts independent and classic films as well as local, regional, and national touring artists performing on a 1,500-square stage.
