The Peoria Park District extends heartfelt appreciation to the Peoria Area Water Wizards (PAWW) for their decades of partnership and passionate dedication to youth aquatics in our community.

PEORIA, IL (August 11, 2025) — The Peoria Park District extends heartfelt appreciation to the Peoria Area Water Wizards (PAWW) for their decades of partnership and passionate dedication to youth aquatics in our community. Established in the 1970s, PAWW was a proud District program until 2015, when the group transitioned to private operation and began managing Central Park Pool—where they’ve continued to inspire and develop generations of swimmers.

This month, the PAWW Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to move its operations from Central Park Pool. The Peoria Park District is honored to have supported PAWW’s mission and proud of the powerful role this partnership has played in shaping a strong aquatics community.

Throughout August, PAWW and the Park District will celebrate the incredible impact PAWW has and will continue to have on generations of swimmers in the Peoria area —including an open house and a final swim time trial exhibition at Central Park Pool on August 23. More details will be shared soon.

The Peoria Park District is thankful for the athletes, coaches, families, and volunteers who have been part of our decades-long community.

The District and Peoria Public Schools, which jointly own the facility and adjacent parking lot, are working together to determine next steps.
