Carbondale, CO – Within the next week, the Town of Carbondale will open Community Room 2 at Town Hall to shelter up to 20 newcomers who have been sheltering at the Third Street Center. Additionally, the Town will open a shelter for 20 newcomers at the Carbondale Community United Methodist Church on 2nd Street. The Town of Carbondale has contracted with Recovery Resources to manage both shelters.

“After careful consideration of our church mission as an inclusive, loving community of faith, trust, and connection, and in keeping with our pledge to stand in solidarity with all who are marginalized and oppressed, our board has agreed to take in a manageable number of overnight guests,” said Rebecca Dunagan, Carbondale Community UMC Reverend. “There should be minimal impact on the surrounding neighborhood. When you see our visitors coming and going, we hope you will make them feel welcome.”

The Third Street Center will be closing its shelter on January 19. Since November, up to 60 newcomers have been sheltered at the Third Street Center as a temporary site while the Town sought a longer-term sheltering solution for the winter. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Third Street Center for generously opening their doors to the newcomers so rapidly. Your commitment to providing shelter speaks volumes about your kindness.” says Town Manager, Lauren Gister.

Dinners provided by the Roaring Fork Schools are being served Monday through Friday from 6 pm to 7pm at the Crystal River Elementary School. To ensure safety and smooth service hallways are secured before the meal service begins. Brooke Coon was recently hired as the Newcomer Response Organizer. Brooke is working with individuals and organizations to coordinate meals, volunteers and other resources to the newcomers. El Pueblo de Carbondale Encuentra Nuevas Ubicaciones de Alojamiento

Carbondale, CO – Dentro de la próxima semana el Pueblo de Carbondale abrirá el Salón Comunitario 2 para alojara hasta 20 inmigrantes recién llegados que se han estado alojando en el Third Street Center. Además, el pueblo abrirá un alojamiento para 20 inmigrantes recién llegados en la Iglesia Metodista Unida de la Comunidad de Carbondale en la calle 2da. El pueblo de Carbondale ha contratado a Recovery Resources para administrar ambos alojamientos.

"Después de una cuidadosa consideración de la misión de nuestra iglesia como una comunidad inclusiva y amorosa de fe, confianza y conexión, y de acuerdo con nuestra promesa de solidarizarnos con todos los marginados y oprimidos, nuestra junta ha acordado recibir a un número manejable de huéspedes durante la noche", dijo Rebecca Dunagan, reverenda de la UMC de la comunidad de Carbondale. "Debería haber un impacto mínimo en el vecindario circundante. Cuando veas a nuestros visitantes ir y venir, esperamos que los hagas sentir bienvenidos".

El Third Street Center cerrará su alojamiento el 19 de enero. Desde noviembre, hasta 60 inmigrantes recién llegados han sido albergados en el Third Street Center como un sitio temporal mientras el pueblo buscaba una solución de alojamiento a largo plazo para el invierno. "Extendemos nuestro más sincero agradecimiento al Third Street Center por abrir generosamente sus puertas a los inmigrantes recién llegados tan rápidamente. Su compromiso de proporcionar alojamiento dice mucho sobre su amabilidad", dice la gerente del pueblo, Lauren Gister.

Las cenas proporcionadas por las Escuelas de Roaring Fork se sirven de lunes a viernes de 6 p.m. a 7 p.m. en la Escuela Primaria Crystal River. Para garantizar la seguridad y la fluidez, los pasillos de servicio están asegurados antes de que comience el servicio de comidas. Brooke Coon fue contratada recientemente como Organizadora de Respuesta para Inmigrantes Recién Llegados.
