Walnut Creek, CA, August 8, 2017 - Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services (MOWSOS) is proud to announce that it will receive the donation of a 2018 Subaru Outback  as part of a partnership between Meals on Wheels America and Subaru of America, Inc. in celebration of the '50 CARS FOR 50 YEARS' campaign.

"We are both thrilled & honored to announce that MOWSOS is one of 50 national recipients of a 2018 Subaru Outback for this campaign," says Elaine Clark, Chief Executive Officer for MOWSOS.

The new Outback will be used to provide direct service in response to rising issues of isolation in seniors. Ground breaking programs created to address this significant heath risk will be possible because of this generous donation and this innovative partnership.

"Meals on Wheels is the only organization invited into people's homes every day.  As such, we are in a unique position to recognize when older adults are lonely or isolated and in need of friendship," continues Clark. " We are so thankful to Meals on Wheels America and Subaru for recognizing the work we are doing to combat isolation, and for giving us a vehicle to use for wellness visits to check on frail, home-bound seniors.  Together, we can make a difference!"
Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services is a full-service nonprofit organization dedicated since 1968 to helping seniors live independently and with dignity.  Based in Walnut Creek, the agency serves older adults all across Contra Costa County.  More information can be found at
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, and in keeping with its philosophy of supporting local communities, Subaru of America, Inc. announced today its donation of 50 vehicles to Meals on Wheels America. This fall, 50 new 2018 Subaru Outback vehicles will be donated to select Meals on Wheels programs throughout the country, to be used in the delivery of an estimated 53,000 meals to an additional 3,700 seniors across 39 states. The donation will address the Meals on Wheels network's growing demand for fuel-efficient, versatile and safe delivery vehicles to enable our nation's most vulnerable seniors to live nourished lives with independence and dignity.

Meals on Wheels America, (MOWA) together with national Meals on Wheels programs, consistently strives to become stronger, more sustainable and able to better meet the growing demands of the most vulnerable among us. Federal and local governments, healthcare systems, businesses and communities are asked to come together to change the way this country cares for its seniors, and this change starts at every level.
