Empowering Older Adults Through National Preparedness Month:

National Preparedness Month is recognized every September as a time to focus on preparing for the types of emergencies that can affect us where we live, work, and visit. The initiative encourages individuals, communities, and businesses to take steps to ensure they are prepared for disasters and emergencies of all types.

This year’s National Preparedness Month theme, "Take Control in 1, 2, 3," puts the focus on preparing older adults who are particularly vulnerable during disasters. This theme empowers everyone to:

  • Assess their needs: Understand how medications, mobility devices, and pets factor into emergency plans.
  • Make a plan: Tailor emergency plans to individual needs.
  • Engage a support network: Build and inform a support network to assist during a disaster.

A United Community is a Prepared Community:

The City of Chino and its partner organizations invite all community members to actively participate in this crucial event. Together, we can transform awareness into action, ensuring a safer and more resilient community for all.
