City of Battle Creek
and other Waste Management customers, Waste Management has reduced its on-the-road workforce to meet federal and state emergency declarations, and is focusing on the essential services of curbside trash and recycling pickup.
Waste Management will temporarily suspend the following services, starting Wednesday, April 1, to resume at a later date –
- Bulk item collection – furniture, carpet, mattresses, appliances, etc.
- Spring and bulk cleanups
- Yard waste collection – grass clippings, brush, tree limbs, etc.
Please note that this postpones yard waste curbside pickup inside the City of Battle Creek limits, as well as the spring cleanup originally scheduled in early May. Please watch for more information in the future about rescheduled dates.
Customers who place bulk items at the curb should see a WM tag, asking them to take it back during this time.
To help with yard waste disposal, the city’s compost site, Brice Pit, is now open 24/7. Brice is at 715 W. River Road, and those living with City of Battle Creek limits can dispose of yard waste items. No plastic bags, please.
Additionally, Calhoun County Recycling reports Republic Services is temporarily suspending recycling operations at the C&C Landfill recycling center to mitigate employee exposure.
Any recycling left at the landfill recycling center will be landfilled at this time.
Please store your clean and dry recycling until we are able to offer you recycling services again both at the C&C landfill recycling center and at the Marshall Recycling Center.
