APRIL IS

NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH

Supporting Child and Family Well-being

Greetings!

Northern Manhattan Perinatal Partnership is participating in a month-long, statewide campaign for National Child Abuse Prevention Month (CAP Month). This is a time to recognize the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen the well-being of every child. We can prevent child abuse by removing and challenging barriers to healthy parenting. At Healthy Families Central Harlem, we’re proud to be part of this movement for change.

We believe in communities where all children grow up happy, healthy, and prepared to succeed. Before any crisis occurs, every community member plays a role in making sure children have safe, nurturing experiences and families have the resources they need—when they need them most.

This month is dedicated to raising awareness and preventing child abuse and neglect, while highlighting upstream solutions that address the root causes—like poverty, systemic inequities, and lack of support. CAP Month is also a time to explore how we can better serve children and families disproportionately impacted by the child welfare system through culturally responsive care and purposeful prevention.
