OPTIMISTIC CLOSURE
The goal of the Prevention Pulse is to provide resources, opportunities, a chance for growth, reflection, and a place to pause. For this May 2021 focus, I want to draw from one of my favorite ways to close professional development sessions that myself and my Teaching and Learning counterparts here at the ESC engage in. An Optimistic Closure. This comes from Three Signature Practices for adult learning from the Washoe County School District Office of Social and Emotional Learning.
The idea of an optimistic closure is to set with intention how you can leave on an optimistic note. Perhaps it’s reflecting on your next steps, how you will rest and reset over the summer. Maybe it’s showing intentional appreciation for someone that was supportive of your role during the year. The idea in ending with this type of optimistic closure is to set yourself up for forward motion. How can you close out this most demanding school year with hope?
