Anchor House Update - June Edition
Anchor House Recognizes Pride Month
Anchor House is proud to join the LGBTQ community in celebrating the freedom to be themselves. We are committed to providing safe, inclusive, and affirming care while welcoming individuals of all backgrounds and sexual identity.

Did you know? According to Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, LGBTQ young people are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than non-LGBTQ.

Family conflict over sexual orientation or gender identity, aging out of the foster care system, poverty and conflict in the home are some big reasons LGBTQ youth experience homelessness.

Allies from outside the LGBTQ community can join in the celebration and show their support, listen and help educate.

Cory C. Golis Memorial Scholarship Fund
The 22nd Cory Golis Ride to benefit the Cory Golis Memorial Scholarship Fund was held recently. Funds were raised with 12 scholarships awarded to area students - including two Anchor House youth who will be attending college in the fall.

Although this year is the final year of the ride and picnic, the Cory Golis Scholarship will continue to be awarded through the fund. The fund honors the memory of Cory, who tragically passed at a young age,

"Anchor House is grateful for the generosity of the Golis' family who turned a tremendous heartbreak and tragedy into scholarship opportunities for youth. " - Kim McNear, Anchor House Executive Director
