SIGN UP FOR 2018 CAPITOL HILL PRIDEFEST TODAY

The Broadway BIA is excited to sponsor the 2018 Broadway PrideFest event on June 23rd. This year the board approved funds to pay for standard booth spaces (10' x 10') for up to 30 BBIA rate payers in good standing. Please follow this link
to sign up today. Use this link to purchase additional space.

PRIDEFEST PERMIT UPDATE

Earlier this month we informed ratepayers that two competing organizations applied for the permits to organize this event. The Special Events Committee (SEC) received more than 20 letters from businesses and residents all in favor of the PrideFest application, and the SEC cited the community input as one of the reasons for a unanimous vote approving that application. The previous organizers appealed the decision and requested administrative review. The second panel met last week and voted unanimously to uphold the decision. The denied organizers have threatened to file additional complaints, and the BBIA will continue to monitor this situation to ensure our community and business district interests are protected.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SENT EMAILS IN SUPPORT OF THE PRIDEFEST APPLICATION. YOUR FEEDBACK ENSURED THE 2018 EVENT WILL BE A WELL-ORGANIZED, RESPONSIVE AND COMMUNITY-DRIVEN EVENT.

SEATTLE CITY LIGHT SCAM ALERT

Scam Alert: Spot It, Report It, Stop It

Earlier this month a ratepayer reported a potential scam situation when an individual claiming to be from Seattle City Light attempted to extort funds for an unpaid bill. Seattle City Light shared this information on their website and we encourage you to share it with your staff.

Seattle City Light wants to empower and protect customers from falling victim to scam attacks. City Light customers, and utility customers around the nation, have been receiving calls by scammers posing as utility employees threatening to shut off power if a payment is not immediately made. The scammers are targeting elderly, non-English speaking customers and business owners. City Light is working proactively to educate customers about how to recognize, prepare for, and prevent them from falling victim to scam attacks.

Don't let it happen to you.
