FOOD TRUCK HUBS MAY BECOME A REALITY IN PRINCE GEORGE'S |
|
PGC Council passes initial legislation that could permit food trucks at established locations...
The latest culinary trend in fast dining - the proverbial food truck, could potentially become a bigger presence in PGC in coming months.
On April 21, the Prince George's County Council introduced companion legislation establishing "Food Truck Hubs" in PGC.
Primary legislation was originally introduced in April 2014 by Council Member Dannielle Glaros (District 3) that would create these "Food Truck Hubs". The hubs would be established zones where vendors could legally operate and serve freshly prepared meals, fruits, vegetables, and snacks. Based on initial discussion, the trucks would be available at commercial centers and transit stations (Metro).
The "Food Truck Hubs" legislation now gets referred to the Council's Health, Education & Human Services Committee for review.
Currently, licensed food trucks are only permitted to operate at approved events such as fairs, festivals, etc.
Pictured is Prince George's County-based Goodies Frozen Custard & Treats. They've developed quite a fan following at food truck alleys and events throughout the DMV.
