COASTER MANIA: SFA'S NEWEST THRILL RIDE FLYS HIGH, LIKE A BIRD IN THE SKY
Wash DC region's only theme park, including area's  largest waterpark, now open daily...
WOW-WEE! The Washington DC/Baltimore metroplex's only theme park, SIX FLAGS AMERICA, is bringing summer to life as only it can.

The theme park - which is also home of the area's largest waterpark, HURRICANE HARBOR, is now open daily.

AND, making its debut this season is the FIREBIRD - Maryland's one and only floorless roller coaster.

Expect breathtaking twist and turns as this all-new coaster takes thrill-seekers through an epic experience designed to make you scream - nothing between the rider's feet and the rails below.

An exhilarating rush that hits a top speed of 56 mph, along a winding 2,900-foot track. As the experience unfolds, the Firebird takes riders on a 9-story drop followed by two inversions, carousel and corkscrew turns, a twisted airtime hill and a figure-eight finale before returning to the ride platform.

TACO-MOLEE: PGC HAS TWO OF THE DMV'S BEST TACO SPOTS, ACCORDING TO WAPO
Washington Post food columnist ranks PGC spot #1 among region's ten best, a second PGC dine ranks #3...
This month's TACO BEER & TEQUILA FESTIVAL isn't the only place to get your "Mex" on in Prince George's.

Recently updated for the Washington Post "Going Out Guide", food writer (and admitted Taco-holic) Tim Carman named the ten top places in the DMV for truly amazing, authentic tacos.

After sampling the best the DMV has to offer, we're happy to say that Carman selected not one, but two PGC restaurants to his Top 10.

Carman's "Numero Uno" top shop for tacos is  TAQUERIA HABANERO (TH) in College Park.  Located at 8145 Baltimore Ave, TH has been serving some of the area's best, most authentic Mexican cuisine for many years.

AND, solidifying the strength of the diverse, ethnic dine scene emerging in PGC, another modest Mexican outpost came in as the #3 Best Taco joint. Located in Hyattsville at 5020 Edmonston Road, the TAQUERIA LA PLACITA Mexican Restaurant is a local favorite that consistently provides great Mexican taste.

BREW-DRIVER: PGC'S NEWEST CRAFT BEER TAP NOW OPEN IN RIV PARK
Denizens Brewing Co. expands with opening of a brewing facility and tap room in Prince George's...
The wait is finally over. After a two year process, the new DENIZENS BREWING CO. at Riverdale Park Station (RPS) is now open.

Denizens at RPS is the larger sibling to the original Denizens in downtown Silver Spring. The new 12,000 sqft brewing facility features a 150-seat tap room with 20 drafts on demand. In addition, enjoy cocktails, select ciders and mead, and a solid food menu that will evolve with clientele.

Based on its large footprint, Denizens at RPS promises to be more than just a brewhouse (and craft beer lovers' hang suite). It will regularly host events, meetings, meet-ups, as well as private functions.

The opening of Denizens at RPS is timely because the brand is in high demand, served at many of the metropolitan-area best restaurants and bars, The company will now be able to dramatically up its production to meet demand.

LIBATION STATION GROWTH SPURT: Denizens joins a flourishing, north county craft beverage scene that also includes Hyattsville's Franklins Restaurant, Brewery & General Store, Streetcar 82 Brewing Company, Pizzeria Paradiso, and Maryland Meadworks. Also in the Hyattsville mix is Sangfroid Distilling.

THE CHAMP STAMP: WOMEN'S LAX SCORES ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP FOR UMD
Terps secure the 2019 NCAA Championship, lifting the trophy for the fourth time in five years...
As we close the door on this issue of News&Notes, we would be remiss if we didn't pour some major sauce for the amazing UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND WOMEN'S LACROSSE team.

Last month, in the NCAA National Championship title game, the Terps defeated feisty Boston College, 12-10, to secure the crown.

In addition to this season's winning ways, there aren't enough words to summarized the Terps remarkable achievement in the sport. They are truly on a perch with lacrosse's elite.

So, move over and make room, we've got another trophy to add! The University  has amassed some serious athletic hardware over the years. It has 46 team National Championships, 11 individual National Championships, and 283 Conference Championships.

Thank you to the UMD Women's Lacrosse team for bringing yet another championship trophy home to Prince George's County.

FEAR THE TURTLE: If you don't know, you better ask somebody. Did you know that the UMD Women's Lacrosse now has 14 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championships? Did you know that the team had a 45-0 home record over the last four years?  Did you know they've been in the NCAA Championship title game six of the last seven years? Did you know they've been to eleven straight Final Fours? Did you know the team has been dominant the last five years, winning the title in 2014, 2015, 2017 and...2019? Now you know!
