New Student Admissions at Prince

Victoria Carter, Director of Admissions

Over the last few years, Prince Avenue Christian School has become more than just a respectable option for parents who desire a private Christian school education. Our school, even in the midst of one of the best public-school systems in Georgia, is highly pursued as the best educational option in our region.

As a result, the number of students applying to Prince increases every year. We currently have 140 applications for the 2024-2025 school year - more than double the number of applications we had last year at this time. Many of these applicants have been placed on a waiting list for next school year due to limited availability in some grades. Therefore, this year, more than ever, it is important that you submit your reenrollment early. After February 7th, we cannot guarantee your child’s space for next year if they are not reenrolled. Additionally, grade level changes cannot be guaranteed after February 7th, so you will want to make sure you reenroll your child in the correct grade level for the 2024-2025 school year.

We have great families at Prince! That is why current families receive priority in spaces for the new school year. After reenrollment is complete, the Prince Admissions Office will start notifying new families who have applied of available spots. I thought it would be helpful for current families to be reminded of the current application process for new students who are applying for the upcoming school year.

1. Submit an Online Application.

The online application to Prince is 11 pages long. Parents often joke with me that the admission application for our school is lengthier than that of a college application.

The application is thorough and includes questions regarding basic demographics, church attendance/involvement, current school attendance, learning differences, disciplinary records, student interests, parent testimonies, reason for applying, and school covenant commitments. Students applying 6th- 12th grade also complete a student questionnaire.

2.  Waiting List.

If a space is not available in the needed grade level, students are placed on a waiting list. Families are notified as soon as there is an opening at which time they decide whether to continue to pursue admissions.

3. Documents Required

  • Church Recommendation Form - All applicants, from PreK-3 through 12th grade, are required to submit a church recommendation form.

  • Records Request Form - Applicants from 1st through 12th grade are required to have official school records sent from their current school. This includes report cards, standardized testing, and discipline records.

  • Principal or Guidance Counselor Recommendation Form - Applicants from 1st through 12th grade are required to have a principal or school counselor complete a recommendation form.

  • Teacher Recommendation Forms - Applicants from 1st through 5th grade are required to have a teacher recommendation. Additionally, applicants from 6th through 12th grade who are making below an 85 in math or English must have a teacher recommendation in that subject area.

4. Entrance Testing

Applicants from PreK-4 through 5th grade are required to complete entrance screenings. Typically, applicants 6th through 12th grade have enough testing on file via their school records that we do not have to complete entrance screenings.

5. Family Interview

All new families must complete a parent interview with one of our principals before being admitted to Prince. Additionally, students in 6th through 12th grade must attend the interview as well. The families are asked to verbally share their testimonies and church attendance during this interview.

6. Principal Recommendation

After the interview, principals will make a recommendation to the head of school to admit or deny the student based on our admissions standards.

7. Acceptance or Denial

The head of school makes the final decision to admit or deny the applicant.

While the interest in attending Prince Avenue Christian School has increased over the years, the ability to be admitted has become much more difficult.

Students spend more waking hours in school than anywhere else, and a child’s school environment is one of the most important decisions parents will make.
