Reflections on a Great School Year

Nick Wilbur, Director of Campus Life

The older I get the more I realize that life is a continual cycle of one chapter closing and another opening. As the school year winds down, we close the chapter of life that was the 2024-2025 school year. With any major milestone, we should take a moment to reflect on the wins of the past chapter of life while we look forward to what changes we would like in the next.

At Prince, we have four distinct pillars of our mission statement: Discipleship, Academics, Fine Arts, and Athletics.

As we reflect on the past year, there is plenty to celebrate in each of these areas.

In the area of discipleship, our students have grown closer to the Lord through the mission trip to Costa Rica, purposeful chapels, and the 5th-grade, middle school, and high school retreats. In addition, numerous students have taken the next step of obedience in their faith and have been baptized.

Academically, many of our upcoming graduates in the Class of 2025 were accepted into major institutions, including the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech. Our seniors are graduating with an average of twenty college credits on their transcripts. Throughout our school, there are too many other academic merits to include, but all of our students should be proud of the academic effort they gave this year.

Our fine arts program showed off their talents through many concerts and art exhibits. Throughout multiple age groups, our students excelled at stage productions including Anastasia, Newsies, Annie, Shrek, Wizard of Oz, and Winnie the Pooh.

In athletics, our students excelled in all areas. We won six region championships, had 12 seniors commit to play at the next level, set several school records, and the golf teams are still competing for state championships.

What a year we have truly experienced together! The Lord has been faithful to Prince, and my prayer is that He will continue to shepherd us in all areas of our mission.

As we look forward to the next chapter, I believe there are several things we should turn our attention to as we prepare for what the Lord has next. I would encourage everyone over the summer to make several commitments:

Connecting -

A long school year can cause stress on our relationships. Use the summer to reconnect as a family and with friends. We are better together as a school and a body of believers when our horizontal relationships are in the right place.

Prayer –

Even more important than our horizontal relationships is our vertical relationship with the Father. Commit this summer to time in God’s Word and fervent prayer.

Your Local Church –

It is imperative as we go our separate ways over the summer that we stay connected with the body of believers. Prioritize your time in corporate worship this summer and in all you do.

Have Fun –

As a Prince parent of three myself, I am realizing more and more that the number of summers I have left with my children are quickly dwindling. Spend time this summer building close relationships with your children and making memories that you will cherish for many years.

I hope everyone has a safe and fantastic summer. We look forward to seeing you in August as we begin the next chapter.
