A Letter From our Pastor

The 23rd Psalm is Your Psalm

This week’s psalm happens to be the 23rd Psalm, probably the most recognized psalms and passages in all of Scripture. Usually it is recited at funerals, so we associate the 23rd Psalm with those who have died and how the Lord cared for them and provided for them even in death. As a pastor, I often read this psalm to those who are anxious, worried, or near death. It’s is wonderful reminder of our Lord’s faithful care, protection, and promise for His people. In this way, the 23rd Psalm is of great benefit for the living! It gets us out of our circumstances, our eyes off of self and back onto the Good Shepherd who is with us, leading us, feeding us, guiding us, protecting us, blessing us, chasing us, and providing a dwelling for us in His home. So, read again this psalm through the lens of the Lord being your shepherd, being reminded of all the ways he is caring for you each and every day unto eternity:

" 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.

3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths
of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. "

My friends, these words are true for you, you who are trusting in the Good Shepherd Jesus. He is your shepherd, and He is shepherding you with all the love and care of The One who laid down His life for His sheep. Pray this psalm often, while you are living, and be comforted and assured of God’s gracious care for you. He is your shepherd and mine, and for that I’m am truly grateful.

An Update From our Principal

Dear Parents,

Happy fall! This is my favorite season. Our weather is making it hard to remember that it is fall. While I was growing up in St. Louis, it always seemed like fall was God's colorful present to us before the winter came and everything was gray and colorless. We don't have those changing seasons here, but it seems everything else around us is changing. So thankful that we know that God never changes. Through all that is going on today with
racial tension, political craziness, and a pandemic, our God stands firm with His love and grace holding us in His arms.

This week we prayed for: Joshua - 4th, Emilie - 7th, Jacob - 4th, Max - 1st, and Miguel - 1st. May God bless them and keep them close to Him always. Please include them in your prayers this week.

Next week, classes will be taking the MAP testing. These results help us see where students excel and where we might need to adjust what we are
teaching to help them be successful. This testing is administered with iPads or Chromebooks. It tests only for math and reading/language arts skills. We
give this test 3 times a year to help measure progress.

Did you know that you can join us for chapel on YouTube? Each Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. one classroom goes to the church to attend chapel. The rest of us watch a livestream on YouTube. You can join us here:

The chapels are saved there on the Prince of Peace YouTube site. Join us

Blessings,
Mrs. Smallwood
