Back-to-School Email Express for week of Aug. 9
|
|
This is the "Back-to-School" edition of Email Express, the communications tool utilized by Princeton Independent School District. It is distributed before the first day of school to keep you informed. Districtwide events are featured at the top, followed by a section for each campus to make information easier to navigate.
We encourage suggestions on how we can improve our communications, so feel free to email jcollins@princetonisd.net with your ideas.
In addition, like the Princeton Independent School District Facebook page and follow Twitter @princetonisd to stay up-to-date, as well. These accounts are also linked to the district website at www.princetonisd.net so you do not need social media to see the postings. In addition, Princeton ISD has an official Instagram page to showcase photos from around the district. Follow @PrincetonISD on Instagram to see the kids in action.

Chromebook registration under way
|
Princeton ISD is providing Chromebooks for every secondary student in grades 6-12 for use as an educational tool during school or at home.
Registration is underway on all secondary campuses. This includes completing the sign-up paperwork, providing a copy of a parent or guardian driver license and purchasing insurance, which is optional. Cost is $20 to cover possible damages.
Campuses will be open during normal office hours to sign up for a Chromebook and complete paperwork.
For high schoolers, parents may send an email of the documents and a copy of their driver license, as well. Paperwork for students of Princeton High School needs to be emailed to Tiffany Matlock at tmatlock@princetonisd.net and paperwork for Lovelady students should be emailed to Stephanie Martinez at smartinez@princetonisd.net.
Click here for the insurance paperwork and required device agreement. The Chromebook insurance tile has been added to the new district webstore. Parents may now pay online at princetonisd.revtrak.net or princetonisd.net and select Online Payment Center or follow this direct link:
Any middle school parents who did not attend their school registration will have device and insurance forms sent home the first day of school or they can stop by the Clark or Southard office between now and the first day of school to complete the Chromebook agreement/license copy. Middle school parents can email documents to the librarians. Clark paperwork can be emailed to Karen Hersh at khersh@princetonisd.net. Southard paperwork can be emailed to Jennifer Nichols at jnichols@princetonisd.net.

Free meals for all students
|
Princeton ISD announced that this school year, healthy meals will be offered every school day to all students at no cost. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year.
While no application or eligibility determination is required for a student to receive free meals this school year, income eligibility requirements will likely resume in the 2022-2023 school year. As such, Princeton ISD will process household applications during the 2021-2022 school year to ensure student eligibility for free or reduced-price meals during the first 30 days of the 2022-2023 school year while 2022-2023 applications are being processed. Each district has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed upon request.

Smith drop-off and dismissal procedures and map
|
Smith parents need to be familiar with the drop-off and pick-up procedures and correct routes.
All morning drop-offs are done in the front drive through. See the map for dismissal locations depending on your child's grade level. Contact the child's teacher with any questions.
On the first day of school, do not park around the loop in the front drive if you are walking your child into school. The front loop is for drive-through and drop-off only.
At dismissal, have your student's car tag (provided at Meet-the-Teacher Night) or driver license ready to help speed up the dismissal process. Be courteous and patient for the first few days of drop-off and dismissal as it is a new process for many students and families.

|
Canup first day procedures and dismissal map

On the first day of school, Aug. 12, Canup doors will open at 8:10 a.m. to greet students. Parents may drop-off or walk their child to class the first two days of school. For those students riding the bus, they may arrive home a little later as drivers are learning the routes and students. Be sure to look over the dismissal map for the traffic routes for arrival and dismissal of those students being dropped off and picked up in the carpool lane.
