Board Notes

The Princeton ISD Board of Trustees meets monthly. Board meetings are typically held on the third Monday of each month and open to the public. With school holidays, meeting dates are adjusted for November, December, January and February. Here are highlights from the Sept. 15 meeting. The board will meet again Monday, Oct. 20.

Banschbach Middle School will be the district's fourth middle school and will be located along the future extension of Cypress Bend Parkway.

Trustees hear construction update

The Princeton ISD board of trustees heard an update from Kolton Barnes with Claycomb Associates, Architects regarding the two projects currently in the construction phase.


Both Banschbach Middle School and Carrell Elementary School are being built along Cypress Bend Parkway, which will stretch from U.S. 380 to Myrick Lane (County Road 400).


According to Barnes, each facility is more than 50% complete. It is projected the schools will be ready for occupancy next summer, both in time for the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Carrell Elementary School will be the district's ninth elementary campus and will be located along the future extension of Cypress Bend Parkway. The district's fourth middle school is on the adjacent property.

PISD commemorates upgrade, expansion

Lanny Jones with Pogue Construction was at Monday night's board meeting to present trustees with a piece of memorabilia commemorating the reopening of Jackie Hendricks Stadium following its expansion and upgrade and the completion of the district's new administration building, both on Mabel Avenue.


The Princeton-Lowry Crossing Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for the stadium prior to the most recent home football game. In addition, the district held an open house with a reception and tours of both facilities.


PISD's students helped with the celebration by providing a Panther Pride atmosphere as the band played, while cheer, color guard and the dance team did their part to welcome guests.


In addition, members of each team that utilize the stadium attended the ribbon cutting ceremony, along with district personnel and community and chamber members. Princeton ISD programs represented include, band, color guard, cheer, Claw Crew dance team, football, track, soccer and athletic training/sports medicine.

7 candidates on ballot for school board

There are seven candidates on the ballot for two spots on the upcoming school board election in November.


Two incumbents, John Campbell and Julia Schmoker, have filed for re-election. In addition, Melissa Ait Belaid, Sonia Ledezma, Kay McLaughlin, Samuel Nevarez and Charlotte Wilson have filed.


Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 20, and ends Friday, Oct. 31, and the election will be Nov. 4. The last day to register to vote is Oct. 6.


The top two vote-getters will fill the two trustee positions and serve a three-year term on the Princeton ISD school board.
