Welcome to the 12th edition of Email Express, which is the communications tool utilized by Princeton Independent School District. It is distributed on Tuesdays to keep PISD stakeholders informed.
To make information easier to navigate, districtwide events are featured at the top, along with a few seasonal or specialized topics, followed by a section for each campus, as well a centralized testing section, when necessary.
We encourage suggestions on how we can improve our communications, so feel free to email jcollins@princetonisd.net with your ideas.
In addition, like the Princeton ISD Facebook page to stay up-to-date. This account is also linked to the district website at www.princetonisd.net, so you do not need social media to see the postings. In addition, PISD has an official Instagram page to showcase photos from around the district. Follow @PrincetonISD on Instagram to see the kids in action.

| | Program enters 18th year to provide for children | |
The Angel Tree program, which was developed to assist the less fortunate students in Princeton ISD during Christmas, is entering its 18th year, but the program is now called Princeton Gives. It's the same local charity with the same mission, and adoptions are underway.
Sponsored by the Lions Club, in conjunction with Princeton ISD, this is a great way to give back to the community and provide these children with a holiday they might not experience otherwise.
For the past 17 years, Lions Club has been able to assist every eligible applicant. For 2024, 866 children from 306 Princeton families were adopted through the program.
To be considered as a recipient, the deadline to submit an application to campus counselors for a child is Wednesday, Nov. 19.
Adoptions continue until Monday, Dec. 1.
The No. 1 goal is still to make sure every child is adopted.
Follow these guidelines to provide for a child in need:
- Register at this link to adopt children.
- Spend approximately $75 per child to purchase items from their wish list, including toys and clothes.
- Clearly mark all unwrapped presents with the Family and Child number from the adoption form. Donors are asked to use removable labels with the Family and Child number so the items will not have handwriting on them.
- Drop-off gifts beginning Dec. 1, and the deadline for drop-offs will be Friday, Dec. 5, to ensure families have what they need before school is out for Christmas break. The drop-off location for all donations will be the PISD Administration Building, 804 Mabel Ave.
- If someone cannot afford to adopt an entire child, pair up to adopt a child.
- Make a monetary donation at any campus, administration office, Peoples Bank or SouthState Bank (checks payable to Princeton Lions Club); or give online at this link: Donate to Princeton Gives
- Sponsor a portion of a child by selecting from the trees at either Peoples Bank, SouthState, the Chamber of Commerce or the City of Princeton. Individual items, including toys or clothing, will be available.
For more information, call 469-952-5400 or stop by the PISD Administration Office at 804 Mabel Ave. or visit princetonisd.net/PrincetonGives.

| | New law bans personal devices | |
The Texas Legislature recently passed a new state law, House Bill 1481, impacts all Texas public schools. The new law prohibits the use of cellphones and other personal communication devices during the school day. This is not a Princeton ISD policy change, but a legal requirement that all districts must follow effective immediately.
Under HB 1481, students may not use personal devices at any time during the instructional day, from the first bell to the last. This includes classrooms, hallways, passing periods and lunch. Devices must remain off, out of sight and securely stored for the duration of the school day.
The law applies to personal communication devices, such as:
- Cellphones and smartphones
- Smartwatches
- Tablets
- Smartglasses
- Any communication-capable device not issued by the district for instructional purposes, including personal laptops
| | Free eye care and glasses | |
The Princeton chapter of Lions Club has partnered with PISD to offer free eye exams and glasses for students in need. Students must qualify for the free service.
For more information on free vision screening and glasses, see the campus nurse.
In addition, Princeton Lions Club will take all those old glasses taking up space in your drawers. Drop off at PISD admin, 804 Mabel Avenue adjacent to Clark and the stadium, or the nurse’s office on any campus.
