Threat investigation leads to arrest

At around 4 p.m. this afternoon, Princeton ISD was made aware of a possible threat posted on social media. District officials immediately contacted Princeton Police Department and an investigation was initiated.

PISD administration was able to identify a Clark Middle School student as a possible suspect, and police conducted a thorough investigation including a search of the suspect's home. Based on the evidence collected, an arrest warrant was obtained, and officers took the suspect into custody this evening and transported the student to the Collin County Juvenile Detention Facility where a charge of terroristic threat "placing public in fear" (3rd degree felony) was filed.

Princeton ISD and Princeton PD will continue to take every threat seriously and are committed to pursuing prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

The district wants to reiterate the seriousness of using social media to pose threats or perpetuate rumors containing a potential threat.

As we work to decrease these incidents, we ask for cooperation from our PISD families in reminding students to consider the serious consequences and to refrain from making poor decisions.

We also encourage our parents and students to report anything they see or hear so the district can take proper steps to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Tonight's investigation was initiated through a message on Tip411, which is an immediate avenue to report concerns to proper authorities.

We would like to commend the actions of this tipster, who took the right steps to bring this situation to a safe and swift end.

In addition, Princeton PD would like to express to parents, staff and students that if anyone has any knowledge about threats to immediately inform campus administration, a Princeton PD school resource officer or the Princeton Police Department at 972-736-3901.

Please be aware that we will have an increased police presence throughout Princeton ISD facilities for the remainder of the school year.
