April 5th Reminders and Lunch Logistics

As we prepare for April 5th, please be sure to familiarize yourself with the revised spring semester calendar and school day schedule. Additionally, please make note of the important reminders below:
➢   Hybrid students will attend IN-PERSON each day and will provide weekly saliva samples on the following days:
○  Students with last names A-L → Mondays
○ Students with last names M-Z→ Tuesdays
➢   Remote students will remain fully remote each day.
➢   Saliva samples will continue to be collected for remote students involved in athletics and activities.
 
Lunch for Remote Learners
 
For our remote learners, Sodexo will continue to distribute a 7-day meal pack on Mondays at all 4 Glenbard schools and the Sports Hub in Glendale Heights. The pickup time will be from 1:30pm-2:15pm.
 
Lunch Logistics for In-Person Learners
 
Meal Distribution
All food provided by Sodexo will be prepackaged, individually wrapped, and free of charge. Per IDPH guidance, meals will not be distributed in the traditional buffet style. Instead, upon entering the cafeteria and the designated buffet line, students will grab a prepackaged breakfast/lunch combo bag from a designated cooler. Appropriate signage will be visible to help guide students through the queue.
 
Students are welcome to bring their own lunch with them at the start of the school day. Outside food cannot be purchased and/or delivered by parents nor delivery services during the school day.
 
Seating/Locations/Cleaning
The student cafeteria will serve as our main eating space for students during their lunch period. We have replaced our traditional cafeteria tables with individual student desks placed 6 feet apart for appropriate social distancing. Per IDPH guidance, all of the desks will be facing the same direction. On April 5th, our first day back from Spring Break, students will have a choice of where they sit in the cafeteria. This will allow them to sit in close proximity to some of their peers if they prefer. The seat they choose on this day will be their assigned seat during lunch for the foreseeable future. Please note that student mobility will be limited.
 
Biester Auditorium will serve as our overflow lunch space as necessary. Students will be assigned to a seat in the main portion of the audience seating area. These students will retrieve their lunch from the same “grab and go” line in the cafeteria and then exit the cafeteria and proceed to Biester. The lunch location assignment for each student will be reflected in their class schedule.
 
Adult supervisors will use seating charts to ensure students are occupying the same seat each day. They will also be responsible for spraying the desks in their quadrant with Oxivir disinfectant between lunch periods.
 
Outdoor/Deck Access
Approximately 20 minutes into each lunch period, students will have the opportunity to access the attached outdoor patio. Access to this space will be limited based on capacity and social distancing requirements. Food will not be allowed on the patio and all students will need to eat at their assigned seat in the cafeteria. When outside, students will be required to maintain 6 feet social distancing and may take a mask break. When returning indoors after accessing the patio, students should immediately go back to their assigned seat.
 
Off Campus Lunch
With parent permission, junior and senior students will have the opportunity to leave campus for lunch. Parents granting permission for their student(s) to leave campus for lunch are committing to do so for the remainder of 2nd semester. This is not a day-to-day decision. Students will be expected to have their ID scanned as they leave campus via Door 1 at the beginning of their lunch period. They may not return until the start of the next period. Parents wishing to authorize their student(s) to leave campus during their assigned lunch period should complete and submit THIS FORM by 3:00pm, Thursday, 3/25/21.

 Almuerzo para estudiantes remotos
Para nuestros estudiantes remotos, Sodexo continuará distribuyendo un paquete de comida de 7 días los lunes en las 4 escuelas de Glenbard y el Centro Deportivo en Glendale Heights. El horario de recogida será de 1:30 pm a 2:15 pm.
 
Logística de almuerzo para estudiantes presenciales

Distribución de comidas
Toda la comida proporcionada por Sodexo será preempaquetada, envuelta individualmente y sin cargo. Según la orientación del IDPH, las comidas no se distribuirán en el estilo buffet tradicional. En cambio, al ingresar a la cafetería y la línea de buffet designada, los estudiantes tomarán una bolsa combinada de desayuno / almuerzo empaquetada de un refrigerador designado. La señalización apropiada estará visible para ayudar a guiar a los estudiantes a través de la fila.
Los estudiantes pueden traer su propio almuerzo al comienzo del día escolar. Los padres no pueden comprar y / o entregar alimentos de afuera ni los servicios de entrega durante el día escolar.

Asientos / Ubicaciones / Limpieza
La cafetería estudiantil servirá como nuestro principal espacio para comer para los estudiantes durante su período de almuerzo. Hemos reemplazado nuestras mesas tradicionales de la cafetería con escritorios individuales para estudiantes colocados a 6 pies de distancia para un distanciamiento social apropiado. Según las instrucciones del IDPH, todos los escritorios estarán orientados en la misma dirección. El 5 de abril, nuestro primer día de regreso de las vacaciones de primavera, los estudiantes podrán elegir dónde sentarse en la cafetería. Esto les permitirá sentarse muy cerca de algunos de sus compañeros si así lo prefieren. El asiento que elijan ese día será su asiento asignado durante el almuerzo en el futuro previsible. Tenga en cuenta que la movilidad de los estudiantes será limitada.

El Auditorio Biester servirá como nuestro espacio adicional para el almuerzo según sea necesario. A los estudiantes se les asignará un asiento en la parte principal del área de asientos de la audiencia. Estos estudiantes recogerán su almuerzo de la misma línea de “tomar y listo” en la cafetería y luego saldrán de la cafetería y se dirigirán a Biester. La asignación del lugar del almuerzo para cada estudiante se reflejará en su horario de clases.

Los supervisores adultos utilizarán tablas de asientos para asegurarse de que los estudiantes ocupen el mismo asiento todos los días. También se encargarán de rociar los escritorios de su cuadrante con desinfectante Oxivir entre los períodos de almuerzo.

Acceso al aire libre / cubierta
Aproximadamente 20 minutos después de cada período de almuerzo, los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de acceder al patio exterior adjunto. El acceso a este espacio estará limitado en función de la capacidad y los requisitos de distanciamiento social. No se permitirá comida en el patio y todos los estudiantes deberán comer en su asiento asignado en la cafetería. Cuando estén afuera, los estudiantes deberán mantener una distancia social de 6 pies y pueden tomar un descanso de la máscara. Al regresar al interior después de acceder al patio, los estudiantes deben regresar inmediatamente a su asiento asignado.
 
Almuerzo fuera del campus
Con el permiso de los padres, los estudiantes de tercer y cuarto año tendrán la oportunidad de salir del campus para almorzar. Los padres que otorgan permiso para que sus estudiantes salgan del campus para el almuerzo se comprometen a hacerlo durante el resto del segundo semestre. Esta no es una decisión del día a día. Se espera que los estudiantes escaneen su identificación cuando salgan del campus por la Puerta 1 al comienzo de su período de almuerzo. Es posible que no regresen hasta el comienzo del próximo período. Los padres que deseen autorizar a sus estudiantes a salir de la escuela durante el período de almuerzo asignado deben completar y enviar ESTA FORMA a las 3:00 pm, jueves, 25/3/21.
