Message from the Principal

As we wrap up this week and head into spring break, I want to wish everyone a wonderful week of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation.  We are in the home stretch of the 2023-2024 school year and I encourage us all to stay present and engaged as we near the end of this year!

Shout out to our entire Giant community for raising awareness and funding for The Cancer Wellness Center.  We celebrated all the Giants who contributed to the success of Charity Drive 2024, raising more than $161,000 dollars for this remarkable organization.

I am consistently amazed by the wonderful work that our staff and students produce on a daily basis in service of their own learning and growth, the well-being of our community, and to take care of one another. I am always proud to be a GIANT!

With Giant Pride,

Debby

ACTIVITIES

Under the direction of our Choir Director, Ms. Maria Barnhill, our students who participate in our choirs (Concert Choir, Chorale, Swing Choir, and Madcaps) performed at their spring concert this past Tuesday

evening. The students sang beautifully!

HP Rotary-Interact Club held their annual dodgeball tournament and invited our Student Activities Director Dr. Stephenson and his Administrative Assistant Ms. Rivera! Guess whose team won the tournament… LOL

Quest Food (our HPHS food service provider) held a taste testing and feedback session for our students to decide what menu items they would like added to school year 24-25. They also gave out a lot of swag!

ATHLETICS

All incoming Freshmen... show your GIANT PRIDE!! The Highland Park High School Giants Club is pleased to announce the availability of our Class of 2028 sweatshirt. If you have a graduating 8th grader or know someone that does, this is the perfect graduation gift - JUST $35. Click here to view the sweatshirt and other Giants merchandise. Go Giants and Welcome to the class of 2028! Please contact Jessica Pecaro with any questions, jcpecaro@yahoo.com.

Speaking of the Giants Club… We continue to encourage all families involved in athletics to become a member and purchase a Giants yard sign. The signs are a great way to promote HP Athletics in our community while supporting our parent booster organization. More information about the Giants Club can be found here.

Congrats to the Boys Track and Field Program on their 1st place finish at the CSL Conference Indoor Meet at Maine East. Our Varsity Girls Badminton Team is also off to a great start. The team performed well at the Rolling Meadows Invite last Saturday.

Our Boys Lacrosse program is off to a strong start. The Varsity team is 3-1 to start the season. In Girls Lacrosse the Varsity team defeated Regina in their season opener. Their record stands at 1-1 overall going into Spring Break. We had a record number of students come out for boys and girls lacrosse this year. Varsity Baseball is 4-0 to start the season with some impressive wins over quality opponents. Strong starting pitching, solid defense, and hot hitting has been a good recipe for success. With 13 sports currently in season at HPHS, look for more updates for all of our programs throughout the Spring.

Athletes from all twelve Central Suburban League Schools came together for a leadership workshop centered on inclusivity at Niles North High School. We are proud to be a part of this mission and look forward to seeing our Giant athletes and coaches use what they learned to make a difference at HPHS.

D113 Transportation: NEW APP

This spring, the Ride 360 app that Township High School District 113 uses to provide our families with student transportation information will be retired as of May 1st, 2024, and an updated app will now be available to all users. This new app, My Ride K-12, is currently in the Apple and Android app stores. You will need to download the new app to access updated transportation information for your student(s). Usernames and passwords from Ride 360 will carry over into My Ride K-12. Additionally, you can use your existing log-in information to access a web version of My Ride K-12 at myridek12.tylerapp.com.  If you have not already done so, please download the application as it will continue to be used by our transportation department to share student route assignments and send out notifications as needed.
